Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. in Burns Harbor, IN seeks a part-time Engineering Intern to support maintenance and process improvements. You will learn predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance of equipment while assisting with design, installation, and modernization of machinery.

Applicants must be enrolled in a BS program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with at least a sophomore year completed by summer 2027. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related technical degree.
• Completion of at least sophomore year of study by Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and/or perform predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance of equipment.
• Research, design, evaluate, install, modernize, re-design, operate, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment.
• Resolve equipment malfunctions, including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown action.
• Participate in planning, scheduling, and cost control of maintenance/engineering projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Analyze current operating performance and standard operating procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
• Various other projects as needed to support the business.
