Job summary

Jabil in Grantsville, UT is seeking a Project Manufacturing Engineer to plan, design, implement, and manage integrated production and service delivery systems. This role focuses on profitability, adaptability, and continuous improvement across life cycles, leading complex projects to eliminate waste and optimize processes.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, drive standardization of SAP and MES configurations, and support quotes and new product introductions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering or similar field.
  • 8+ years of experience leading technical engineering teams and cross-functional programs.
  • Manufacturing process development experience with large form assembly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects to eliminate waste using Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering methods.
  • Verify time standards and report key engineering metrics for assigned area.
  • Drive standardization of SAP and Manufacturing Execution System configurations.
  • Assist in preparing quotes for proposed projects and support NPI activities.
  • Mentor engineers and coordinate cross-functional teams across the site.
  • Ensure processes meet customer and regulatory requirements; improve quality and throughput.

How will you make an impact?

The Project Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing; integrated, production and service delivery systems that assure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence and cost control within the production site. The Project ME will adopt as its goals profitability, effectiveness, adaptability, responsiveness, quality, and the continuous improvement of products and services throughout their life cycles.

What will you do?

Project leader – lead and implement projects that will eliminate waste, through the standard Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering process. This will include but is not limited to: Complex Process Simulation, Operations Research and Business Model Cost Analysis

  • Verify Time standards prepared within the Engineering Team
  • Update and report key Engineering metrics for assigned customer or area
  • Drive key process mapping activities within the assigned customer or area
  • Drive the standardization SAP and Manufacturing Execution System configuration
  • Assist on preparing quotes for proposed projects within the assigned customer or area
  • Drive process related activities for New Product Introduction.
  • Coach, mentor, and train engineers within the Engineering team
  • Support and/or maintain all lower-level Engineering essential duties and responsibilities
  • Insure the standardization of Jabil processes throughout the site in accordance with the global, regional and site direction
  • Support the Lean organization by developing a solid process foundation and data integrity to support process improvement through the organization
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
  • Manages cross functional teams to identify, develop, test and implement world class manufacturing equipment, systems, tools, procedures and processes.
  • Ensures that current and future processes and manufacturing systems meet and/or exceed customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews and promotes improvement in customer metrics to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Acts as a liaison for Operations and BU in Jabil for program transfers including providing input into transfer plans and timelines, supporting data, technology, process and procedural requirements as well as knowledge transfer activities and participating in launch activities as needed.
  • Provides support and technical assistance to new facility and/or Workcell startups.
  • Provides mentoring and technical assistance to Jabil site Engineering staff.
  • Leads and coordinates the standardization of systems, procedures and practices across all the Jabil workcells.
  • Ensures that current and future quality and manufacturing systems meet and/or exceed customer and regulatory requirement.

Design of optimized human interfaces for Top Level Assembly in the following areas:

  • Raw material delivery process, storage and line feed systems.
  • Product flow and online material handling systems.
  • WIP management, sizing and buffer storage systems.
  • Ergonomic workstation design and layout.
  • Process optimization.
  • Layout of the workcell and/or complete Jabil plants.
  • 5S housekeeping techniques.
  • Develop/Sustain/Improve all assembly processes.
  • Time study analysis.
  • Own and drive yield improvement programs.
  • Box build quote and products.
  • Systems support (e.g. SAP, MES …)
  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD skills required. Solidworks proficiency preferred

Should be able to be a Subject Matter Expert or support other ME’s and IE’s in one or more of the Engineering categories like:

  • Work Measurement
  • Systems and Metrics
  • Ergonomics / Workstation and line design
  • Capacity Sizing
  • PFMEA, DFA
  • Fixtures and Tools
  • Simulation
  • Quoting
  • Warehousing
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
How will you get there?
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Understanding and application of broad range of manufacturing and industrial engineering tools (ie. Work measurement, simulation, process mapping, facilities and workstation design, operations research, etc.)
  • Understanding of Jabil’s global strategies and direction
  • Understanding of site’s facilities, capabilities and how they tie back to the Jabil strategies and direction
  • Strong financial and analytical ability
  • Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous improvements and cost reduction programs
  • Strong communication skills
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering, or similar field career
  • 8+ years of experience in managing technical engineering teams and cross functional participation.
  • Manufacturing process development experience included
  • Large form assembly process development preferred
