About the role:
We are looking for an experienced and certified Project Manager (PM) to lead a large-scale Website Modernization Project. This initiative will re-architect and rebuild public- and internal-facing websites, along with supporting applications and data infrastructure. The PM will act as the primary liaison between the client and contractor teams, ensuring high-quality delivery across all workstreams in accordance with project milestones, scope, and Waterfall methodology.
Location: Hybrid, Remote (with occasional on-site meetings in NYC as required)
Project Duration: 2.5 years, with potential for extension
What you'll do:
Serve as the single point of contact between client and the contractor for all project matters.
Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and deliverables across four major workstreams.
Coordinate and oversee daily activities of vendor team members, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
Report on project status, risks, issues, scope changes, and escalate concerns as appropriate.
Ensure timely and quality delivery of all project milestones, per client’s formal acceptance process.
Facilitate knowledge transfer and documentation to client staff and ensure post-deployment support readiness.
Lead weekly project status meetings and monthly steering committee briefings.
Maintain resource continuity; propose personnel changes only with client approval.
Ensure all documentation and deliverables are stored in client’s designated repository.
What you'll need:
Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in IT project management for large-scale public sector or education-focused modernization projects.
Certifications: PMP Certification required.
Methodology: Demonstrated experience leading Waterfall-based projects (Agile/Hybrid experience not applicable for this role).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Project, MS Visio, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and SQL queries.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders.
Demonstrated success in managing full SDLC projects, including CMS, web applications, and data system integrations.
What's desired to have:
Experience managing CMS migration or modernization projects (e.g., Sitefinity, Drupal, or equivalent).
Familiarity with government data privacy and accessibility compliance requirements (e.g., WCAG 2.1 AA).
Experience working with New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) or other municipal agencies is a plus.
(This is a HYBRID role with occasional work onsite with the client in NYC)
