Description

RETTEW, a leading engineering consulting firm, is seeking a dynamic and client-focused Civil Engineer to join our Municipal Team as a Drinking Water/Wastewater Project Manager.

As a Drinking Water/Wastewater Project Manager, you will work with our Authority and Municipal clients to develop, design, and manage a variety of projects, including public and private sector wastewater collection and treatment systems, public and private sector drinking water distribution and treatment systems, membrane treatment of municipal and industrial water and wastewater, and biosolids and renewable energy development.

Responsibilities
  1. Program, Project, and Task Management (Engineering consulting with water/wastewater focus)
  2. Assist in planning and defining the project’s objectives and scope.
  3. Assist in developing project’s budget and schedule. Manage and adhere to the established budget and schedule.
  4. Monitor project progress and status and report any issues to manager and/or Team Lead.
  5. Maintain project documentation and track project metrics.
  6. Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  7. Participate in selecting the project team. Coordinate with team members to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  8. Manage and coordinate the project team’s workflow and resources.
  9. Participate in internal scheduling meetings with other PMs, Practices, and Teams to coordinate available resources to maximize efficiency, client service, and ensure quality work is completed and project deadlines are met.
  10. Resolve issues that arise during the project to keep it on track.
  11. Prepare and present project reports and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
  12. Handle meetings, work sessions, and public hearings.
  13. Assist clients in selecting contractors; coordinate their activities, as needed.
  14. Prepare and submit change orders and addenda to contracts for out-of-scope work. Seek assistance from senior and/or legal staff, as needed.
  15. Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate potential issues.
  16. Complete the project billing process on time and accurately.
  17. Assume responsibility for the collection of amounts due.
  18. Serve in a marketing role for the company with an emphasis on business development.
Technical Responsibilities
  1. Maintain a thorough knowledge of several functional areas plus specialization in one area.
  2. Serve as a technical advisor and knowledge resource by training and assisting other team members.
  3. Develop team subject matter experts.
Management, Supervisor, and Guidance
  1. Manage, develop, coach, and mentor assigned direct reports.
  2. Assist in evaluating and anticipating the knowledge and skills needed to ensure there’s an appropriate level of project staffing.
  3. Coordinate internal work activities to provide seamless client service.
  4. Set project team’s performance standards to meet project, Team, Practice, and company goals.
  5. Mentor and coach team members to achieve high performance.
  6. Hold direct reports accountable for meeting Employee Success Plans, Team, and Practice goals.
Communication, Teamwork, and Leadership
  1. Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  2. Demonstrate assertiveness and cooperation when managing conflicts.
  3. Maintain clear communication with clients, team members, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  4. Interact with internal and external project team members.
  5. Demonstrate empathy and critical listening skills.
  6. Engage in some project stakeholder interactions and meetings.
  7. Assist with official communication about specific assignments/meetings.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, or similar field.
  2. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain licensure within one year.
  3. Minimum of five years of experience in water and wastewater design or project management.
  4. Experience with regulatory compliance within the water and wastewater industry.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and project management software.
