Job summary

Abacus in Juno Beach, FL is seeking an experienced professional to lead utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from development through construction readiness. You will drive technical, financial, and regulatory planning across multidisciplinary teams to optimize scope and feasibility.

Responsibilities include coordinating pre-construction, environmental and regulatory work, managing schedules, and preparing and negotiating contracts and financial models.

Qualifications

• Must-have: degree in engineering/construction management or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in project management with focus on engineering, economics, or construction.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong PM, communication, financial, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from early development through construction readiness. This role involves advanced technical, financial, and regulatory planning to optimize project scope, risk allocation, and financial feasibility across complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead pre-construction planning and optimization for utility-scale BESS projects.
• Manage coordination of project development teams to meet schedules.
• Coordinate with environmental, regulatory, and other project variables.
• Develop and optimize project's technical scope and financial feasibility.
• Support teams with PPA and GIA negotiations and jurisdictional requirements.
• Coordinate engineering, estimating, and procurement to support financial models and project designs.
• Source, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts for critical services.
• Communicate with Executive Leadership, Suppliers, Regulatory Agencies, and Local Communities.
• Ensure seamless handover of projects to the Construction Project Manager.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, focusing on engineering, economics, or construction.
• Advanced Excel skills and excellent project management, communication, financial, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferences:

• Technical experience with renewable energy projects, especially electricity markets, renewables, and battery projects.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Six Sigma experience.
