Job Title: Project Manager Transmission and Distribution

Position Reports To: VP Transmission and Distribution

Job Summary: The Project Manager Transmission and Distribution is responsible for overseeing medium and high-voltage substation and transmission line construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role ensures projects are delivered safely on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Manager coordinates all phases of project execution—including planning, resource allocation, cost control, procurement, and client relations—while maintaining compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements. This position requires extensive travel to project sites across the U.S.

Responsibilities
  • Develop site-specific safety plans in collaboration with the Safety Team, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Establish and execute project management plans, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and procurement strategies.
  • Monitor project costs, revenues, and change orders; prepare cost-to-complete projections and monthly financial reports.
  • Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors, including tracking deliveries, approvals, and invoicing.
  • Lead pre-construction planning and coordinate project team activities to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Obtain all necessary permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals for project execution.
  • Prepare and manage project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and work plans.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams regarding project progress and issues.
  • Oversee project closeout activities, including final inspections, documentation, invoicing, and retainage release.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and local communities.
  • Support the development of project team members by providing leadership, coaching, and technical guidance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations.
Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of medium/high-voltage substation and/or transmission line construction management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction techniques, CPM scheduling, estimating, and contract management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with project management software such as Procore, MS Project, or P6.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including extended stays on project sites.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Functional knowledge of job cost accounting.
  • CDL with DOT Med Card preferred.
  • Experience managing projects in the renewable energy or utility infrastructure sector.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent travel to project sites nationwide via automobile, commercial airlines, and rental vehicles.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as well as in office environments.
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, and operating at construction sites.
  • May require lifting materials or equipment up to 50 lbs.
