The project manager will both oversee direct reports and lead engineering projects. The key responsibilities will include managing project financials, interacting with clients, and guiding the civil/structural direction for the project. Supervising structural-design staff to ensure the development of high-quality drawings and calculations. The supervisory aspect includes overseeing and delegating work to team members such as Interns/Co-ops, Structural Design Engineers, and Project Leads.
Work Location: Mainstay is open to remote applicants, as well as those interested in our Hybrid schedule opportunity in Blue Bell, PA or Philadelphia, PA offices.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage project financials including writing proposals, establishing and monitoring budgets, identifying scope adjustments, and invoicing.
- Engage in proactive client or external partner interactions, including acting as the main point of contact, managing scope and deliverables, and coordinating documentation.
- Develop structural construction documents, set goals for direct reports, assess and develop engineering talent, and develop proposals for new projects.
- Guide the civil/structural direction for the project, helping the team and client determine the best options.
- Manage and supervise assigned staff, providing engineering feedback and career development support.
- Support and engage with team members as part of the management team.
- Lead structural design projects, ensuring best practices, requirements, goals, and timelines are met.
- Participate in hiring and developing structural engineers.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, including clients and partner firms.
- Deliver project objectives related to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering work phases.
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, and other data for project planning.
- Conduct site investigations and inspections.
- Design projects according to client specifications using appropriate software.
- Develop cost estimates and proposals for potential work.
- Coordinate project scope, develop budgets and schedules, and ensure quality standards.
- Monitor schedules, budgets, accounts receivable, and manpower; prepare invoices.
- Manage project sub-consultants and internal disciplines.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations.

Essential
- Degree in civil or structural engineering.
- 8-10 years of experience as a structural engineer.
- Professional registration with the Institute of Structural Engineers.
- Expertise in project management.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Ability to liaise with multidisciplinary professionals and construction teams.
- Timely and professional communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Revit and structural analysis software.
