Plexus Corp. seeks an experienced project manager to plan and manage highly complex Aerospace and Defense engineering programs for PLXS-ENG customers.

You will lead cross-functional teams across design centers, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to drive successful execution, ensuring milestones, budgets, and customer expectations are met. The role demands extensive experience in aerospace/defense programs, strong leadership, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with significant experience in aerospace/defense projects.
  • Experience in DoD acquisition life cycle, FAR/DFAR flowdowns, and MIL-STDs/MIL-SPECs is preferred.
  • Strong project management and leadership capabilities with track record of delivering complex programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and management of highly complex Aerospace and Defense engineering projects for PLXS-ENG customers.
  • Proactively identify work packages and opportunities, coordinating with design centers and stakeholders.
  • Set expectations for scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables across the full value stream.
  • Manage programs to successful financial execution and revenue projections.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and suppliers to ensure designs are produced and deployed successfully.

The salary offered within this range will be based upon the geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level. Salary Range: $129,500.00 - $203,400.00

Purpose Statement

To plan and manage highly complex Aerospace and Defense engineering projects for PLXS-ENG customers.

Key Job Accountabilities
  • Business Development - Leads the customer development process in winning new business and is directly responsible for developing repeat business with previous and/or current customers.
  • Work-sharing Support - Accountable for proactively identifying work packages or opportunities that should be work shared. Works effectively with the Functional Manager to promote inter-design center project staffing model while balancing individual needs of the project, customer, and employee.
  • Manages customers’ expectations regarding all aspects across complex full value stream projects AND/OR complex product commercialization projects. This includes setting expectations for the challenges in developing products or test systems. Expectations shall also be managed regarding project scope, schedule, budget, risks, deliverables, and any changes to the original proposal.
  • Manages projects to successful financial execution with the goal of 100% conversion. Utilizes Plexus business systems to accurately project revenue for both active projects and opportunities.
  • Effectively manages the team resources and leads the program to a successful execution. This includes partnering with the engineering team to identify solutions to meet the customer's needs. It is also important to partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and third party suppliers to ensure Plexus’ design are successfully introduced into Plexus Manufacturing Solutions sites. Responsible for developing future Plexus leaders.
Education/Experience Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with 8 or more years of related experience preferred.
  • 5 or more years of related Aerospace/Defense industry experience.
  • Preferred familiarity with:
  • DoD acquisition Life Cycle
  • FAR/DFAR flowdowns
  • Export control, CUI handling
  • MIL-STDs and MIL-SPECs
  • Certified Cost/Price process & compliance
Other Qualifications
  • Intermediate Computer Skills
  • Intermediate Decision making, Problem Solving Skills
  • Intermediate Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Possesses a detailed understanding and extensive experience in at least one discipline (e.g. analog, digital, mechanical, software, PCB, test) of electronic product development
  • Possess a detailed understanding of the product development and product realization processes
  • Possess good project management skills and knowledge of management principles
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Possess strong team building and team leadership skills
  • Possess strong organizational, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to handle demanding schedules including travel to customer sites
  • Possess conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • General office equipment and materials
