Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Manager – Special Projects (Controls Focus) to lead building automation and BAS retrofit projects from preconstruction through closeout. You will partner with operations, engineering, field teams and clients to deliver on schedule, within budget, and with high client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has HVAC controls expertise, strong project and financial management skills, and the ability to mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering, or applicable experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management.
• Proven ability to manage small teams.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
• Strong financial acumen.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Experience managing subcontractors.
• Strong computer skills (CADD, ERP, Excel).
• Ability to visit job sites and work safely around construction materials.

Responsibilities

• Develops client relationships and provides project status updates to client and leadership.
• Manages budget reports, cost and revenue projections, change orders, etc.
• Participates in project meetings with internal departments.
• Partners with stakeholders to ensure scope and schedule alignment.
• Develops budget analysis reports and other reports as necessary.
• Delegates work and mentors Project Engineers; provides coaching and performance feedback.
