Pepper Construction seeks a Project Manager to oversee concrete group projects from initial budget through closeout. You will promote safety, coordinate field teams, manage subcontractors, and ensure financial outcomes while maintaining strong client relationships.

The role requires a BS in Construction Engineering, 5–10 years of concrete experience, and the ability to travel within Indiana. You will collaborate with project management and field supervision to deliver high-quality results on

Responsibilities

• Establish operation priorities and ensure safety and quality on every project.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by identifying and exceeding client needs.
• Estimate, value engineer and develop concrete project budgets with support from Self Perform Department.
• Facilitate subcontractor bid process and track bid documentation.
• Utilize software and templates to process, distribute and track project documentation.
• Negotiate subcontractor and material buyout; develop subcontracts.
• Plan and schedule projects.
• Manage jobs in progress including subcontractor coordination, conflict resolution, documentation and safety.
• Manage project costs through labor, material and equipment evaluation; forecast costs to completion.
• Gather and analyze productivity data.
• Maintain historical production database and adjust bid rates based on results.
• Visit under-performing jobsites to assist with resolutions.
• Perform project closeout.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced personnel.
• Interact with clients to identify and pursue potential work.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Pepper’s Concrete Group consists of a separate group of project management, field superintendents and tradespeople that perform trade specific construction in the areas of demolition, structural excavation, rough carpentry, formwork and placement/finishing of concrete.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall safety, direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects from initial budget through project closeout. Safety is the number one priority at Pepper Construction and Project Managers are expected to promote and exemplify safe work practices.The Project Manager is expected to work with people in all levels of Project Management and Field Supervision to establish operational priorities and ensure a quality project.The role is also expected to maintain positive and effective working relationships with both internal and external members of the Project Team and support departments.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management

• Work with Field Supervision and Project Management to establish operation priorities and ensure safety and quality on every project.


• Ensure customer satisfaction by identifying and exceeding client needs.


• Estimate, value engineer and develop concrete project budgets with the support and direction from the Self Perform Department.


• Facilitate the subcontractor bid process to include processing, distribution and tracking of all project bidding documentation.


• Utilize software programs and templates to process, distribute and track all project documentation.


• Negotiate subcontractor and material buyout; develop and negotiate subcontracts.


• Plan and schedule projects.


• Manage jobs in progress including subcontractor coordination, conflict resolution, documentation and ensuring quality and safety on every job.


• Manage project costs through the ongoing evaluation of labor, material and equipment; continue to forecast and analyze construction costs, exposures and profits through project completion.


• Gather and analyze productivity data.


• Formulate and maintain historical database of production based on types of jobs and types of conditions. Adjust bid rates based on actual production results. Visit under-performing jobsites to assist with resolutions.


• Perform project closeout.

Leadership

• Provide leadership through building relationships, motivating others, providing clear direction, and cooperative teamwork.


• Communicate effectively, both written and verbal.


• Provide training and serve as a mentor to less experienced personnel.

Business Development

• Interact with clients and potential clients to identify and pursue potential work.


• Prepare and participate in client presentations and project interviews; negotiate and secure new business under direct and close supervision.
