Job summary

Stellar Group Inc, headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, is seeking a Refrigeration Project Manager to direct and coordinate designated projects within time and budget. You will lead diverse teams, manage subcontractors, and communicate with customers while applying knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems, construction processes, and safety standards.

Responsibilities include overseeing submittals, buyouts, scheduling, cost projections, invoices, change orders, and project close-out.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1–5 years experience in construction or refrigeration project management.
  • Thorough understanding of industrial ammonia and CO2 refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project submittals and buyouts of materials and subcontracts.
  • Prepare and update project schedules; work with Superintendents to ensure schedule feasibility.
  • Analyze labor productivity and efficiency; produce monthly/weekly reports and cost projections.
  • Manage change orders, monthly invoices, and project close-out documents.
  • Ensure Stellar quality and safety standards are met; coordinate commissioning documents.

Job description

The Refrigeration Project Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. This role demands a strong understanding of industrial refrigeration systems, construction processes, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Coordination of project submittals
  • Buyout of materials and subcontracts
  • Preparing and updating the project schedule. Works closely with General Superintendent and Field Superintendent to ensure the schedule is achievable.
  • Works closely with the General Superintendent and Site Superintendent to analyze labor productivity and efficiency throughout the project
  • Prepares monthly and weekly reports as needed
  • Change orders
  • Monthly cost projections
  • Monthly invoices
  • Works closely with field staff to ensure that Stellar standards for quality and safety are being met
  • Ensures that commissioning documents, plans and personnel are available as needed
  • Ensures that project close-out documents are completed and submitted
  • Communicates with the customer as needed
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of designated projects
  • Ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of detailed and conceptual estimating for mechanical systems
  • Strong skills in leading and communicating with project teams
  • Excellent ability to organize and manage time to complete projects on schedule and within budget
  • Proficient in using project management tools such as Procore, MS Project or Primavera
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively
  • Skilled in resolving conflicts promptly to maintain project momentum
  • Keen attention to detail for managing complex construction projects
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving to handle various challenges
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent prior work experience in a related field
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of experience in construction or refrigeration project management
  • Thorough understanding of industrial ammonia and CO 2 refrigeration systems
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery from inception to completion
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
Travel Requirements:
  • Ability to travel as needed for jobsite visits, training, and events
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to use a computer, phone, printer, scanner, and other office equipment
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds of files, documents, and materials
