Flowserve is seeking a high‑stamina, battle‑tested On‑Site Project Manager to anchor aftermarket fulfillment operations at our high‑stakes Quick Response Repair Center (QRC) in Rancho Dominguez, CA. Unlike remote administrative execution roles, this position demands a rigorous, physical daily presence right on the shop floor where heavy industrial pump teardowns, hydraulic rerates, and overhauls take place. QRC operations are fast‑paced, high‑stress, and entirely unpredictable. When a critical chemical, power, or oil and gas facility suffers an emergency plant outage, their high‑variance assets land directly on your shop floor. We need a resilient, process‑oriented project leader who can manage customer anxiety, withstand intense operating rigors, collaborate directly with the facility GM, and drive structured technical turnaround cycles when holiday or weekend emergencies strike.
Core Responsibilities
- On‑Site Project Operations: Drive the end‑to‑end execution lifecycle for complex rotating equipment overhauls, mechanical upgrades, and emergency physical pump repairs right on the active shop floor.
- Structured Stage‑Gate Governance: Lead formal project kickoff meetings and phase gate review meetings to coalesce customer strategies into structured actions, ensuring standardization and best practices.
- Critical Path Management: Assist cross‑functional teams to develop the scope of supply, translate work breakdown structures (WBS) into activity‑based shop schedules, and aggressively manage the critical path.
- Cross‑Functional Project Reviews: Lead regular project review meetings, collaborating across shop mechanics, engineering, procurement, and sales to deliver complex orders on time, on budget, and to strict quality standards.
- High‑Exposure Matrix Liaison: Partner closely with the facility General Manager and serve as a central communication pivot point across regional sales reps, shop teams, internal parts manufacturing centers, and emergency plant buyers.
- Contractual & Financial Rigor: Conduct thorough contract documentation reviews to ensure execution matches negotiated terms, while tracking project budgets, contract changes, on‑time invoice submissions, and cash collections.
- Risk & Contingency Forecasting: Gather and integrate live shop data to communicate regular status reports and accurate forecasts to stakeholders, proactively deploying contingency plans for key milestones.
- Information & Submittal Controls: Flawlessly manage and track customer document submittals, approvals, and final documentation packages utilizing current, retrievable tracking systems.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Heavy Aftermarket Experience: 5+ years of capital equipment or rotating machinery project management history derived from a hands‑on service center, heavy machine shop, or automated industrial repair facility.
- Pump & Rotating Equipment Domain: Deep technical familiarity with manufactured, engineered products, including rotating pumps, fluid systems, and custom API pump standards utilized across the California corridor.
- Order Fulfillment Background: Minimum 3+ years of dedicated experience operating in a technical project management or specialized order fulfillment role.
- Technical Processes Intimacy: Cross‑functional knowledge of industrial manufacturing and repair processes relating to cast/forged materials, welding, non‑destructive testing (NDT), machining, and component fabrication.
- Mental Resilience: Proven emotional control, a collaborative “can‑do” attitude, and the focus required to handle intense customer pressure, tight emergency windows, and demanding plant turnaround deadlines.
- Systems Core: Self‑driven work ethic with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and industrial Manufacturing MRP/ERP Business Systems.
