You will work in teams led by a Partner and will contribute to the development of all aspects of projects from planning and schematic design through construction administration. Our work includes an interesting mix of many different project types, including master planning, new construction and renovations/additions. We are known for our collaborative approach and our transformative site and client-specific designs.

AOS is a 20-person office founded in 1979 and dedicated to client satisfaction, environmental and cultural stewardship. AOS is a 2030 Commitment signatory firm and we are working toward carbon neutral buildings and renovations. We are fortunate to work on many notable and/or designated historic structures and our design approach is as grounded in the life of contemporary communities as it is in caring for buildings of the past.

The Position

Architects at AOS work in collaborative teams to support project design and documentation tasks. Staff typically join a project at its inception and remain an active part of the team through its completion. This position requires the ability to take ownership of assigned work, manage tasks and deadlines with a high degree of independence, and coordinate effectively with project teams, consultants, clients and contractors.

Your tasks may include:
  • Working with the project team to develop design concepts
  • Development of drawings, renderings and presentations to communicate design ideas to stakeholders
  • Participation in, and as appropriate, coordination of stakeholder meetings and discussions
  • Participation in consultant coordination
  • Development and coordination of drawings during all project phases: schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
  • Managing assigned project tasks, schedules and deliverables
  • Identifying and helping resolve design, technical and coordination issues as projects progress
  • Participation in construction administration, including coordination with contractors, review of submittals and RFIs, and site visits as appropriate
Required Qualifications

Ideal candidates will be curious, self-motivated, proactive and collaborative and will possess strong organizational and communication skills. Candidates should be comfortable working independently within a collaborative team environment and taking responsibility for the development and coordination of their work. Specific qualifications should include:

  • Professional degree in Architecture
  • Strong design, rendering and graphic skills
  • 4-8 years of experience practicing architecture
  • Project management and coordination experience
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Bluebeam
We offer:
  • An opportunity to have a direct impact on a variety of compelling design projects on unique and interesting sites and with distinguished and forward-thinking institutions.
  • A comprehensive compensation package including a competitive salary and benefit package commensurate with candidates’ experience.
  • An inclusive office culture, mentorship with senior leaders and support for professional development and career growth.
