Job summary

Design Build Structures is seeking a Project Manager / Production Coordinator in Peosta, IA to lead fabrication operations from kickoff to delivery. This on-site role coordinates projects, production timelines, and customer expectations while guiding a cross-functional team to meet schedule, budget, and quality targets.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes and project sequencing.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
  • Working knowledge of standards and fabrication practices (AISC).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and Project.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple structural steel fabrication projects from award through final delivery.
  • Coordinate project schedules, production timelines, and customer expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, engineers, architects, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and related documentation to ensure successful execution.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and resolve issues affecting schedule, quality, or budget.
  • Coordinate material requirements and production priorities to support efficient project flow.
  • Coordinate production schedules to maximize efficiency and meet customer deadlines.
  • Monitor workloads, labor utilization, and production priorities across multiple projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communication, workflow, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to production personnel.
  • Foster collaboration between detailing, fabrication, purchasing, and installation teams.
  • Help establish priorities while maintaining accountability for project execution.

Job description

Project Manager / Production Coordinator

Location: Peosta, Iowa | On-Site

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Salary: $60,000–$75,000, depending on experience

Design Build Structures is seeking an organized, hands-on Project Manager / Production Coordinator to help lead fabrication operations from project kickoff through final delivery.

This newly created leadership position is designed to support the company's continued growth and will play a key role in coordinating projects, leading production activities, and developing a high-performing team. As the link between customers, engineering, detailing, fabrication, and field installation, you'll ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the high-quality standards our customers expect.

The ideal candidate has experience in structural steel fabrication, blueprint interpretation, project coordination, production scheduling, and customer communication. This role requires exceptional organization, strong leadership, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do
Project Management & Customer Coordination
  • Manage multiple structural steel fabrication projects from award through final delivery.
  • Coordinate project schedules, production timelines, and customer expectations.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes and project sequencing.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
  • Working knowledge of AISC standards and structural steel fabrication practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Project.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Three to five years of project management experience within structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous metals, or commercial construction.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with fabrication management software such as Tekla EPM, FabSuite, or similar ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of AWS welding standards and structural steel quality control practices.
