Job summary

Liebherr-America, Inc. in Newport News, Virginia, is seeking a Project Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate activities to achieve project goals within time and budget constraints.

You will review proposals, establish work plans, and coordinate staffing for each phase while ensuring progress and compliance with regulations. A Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of PM experience in engineering/manufacturing is required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of project management experience in engineering or manufacturing.
• PMP certification preferred.
• Willingness to travel overnight/extended.

Responsibilities

• Review project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures, staffing requirements, and resource allocation.
• Establish work plan and staffing for each phase and arrange recruitment/assignment of personnel.
• Coordinate duties and scope of authority with project staff.
• Direct and coordinate activities to ensure on-schedule progress within budget.
• Review status reports and adjust schedules as needed.
• Prepare project reports for management and clients.
• Provide technical advice and resolve problems with project personnel.
• Coordinate project activities with government agencies as needed.
• Oversee handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

The Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
• Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
• Confers with project staff to outline work-plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
• Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
• Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
• Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
• Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
• Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
• Oversees proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of project management experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment, or a combination of education and experience. PMP certification preferred.
• Occasional overnight/extended travel as required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
