Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Project Manager for Power Systems within the Industrial and Energy Technology (IET) division. You will lead complex power generation projects from award to customer acceptance, coordinating cross-functional teams across regions to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and profitability.

Ideal candidates have a strong engineering background, 3+ years of project management experience in energy or industrial sectors, and willingness to travel internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience managing complex industrial, energy, infrastructure, or power generation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and managing customer relationships in a challenging project environment.
  • Knowledge of power generation technologies, gas turbines, generators, or large industrial projects is preferred.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing project profitability, cash collection, and contractual matters.
  • Proven ability to manage project risks, stakeholder expectations, and schedule commitments.
  • Familiarity with global project management methodologies; PMP/ PMI certification preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to visit customers or Baker Hughes locations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end execution of power generation projects per contract requirements, scope, schedule, budget, quality, and customer expectations.
  • Lead cross-functional and cross-country teams including engineering, planning, procurement, construction, quality, and finance.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate execution, commercial, technical, and supply chain risks while driving profitability and value.
  • Serve as primary customer focal point throughout project execution with proactive communication and issue resolution.
  • Identify and execute project variations and change orders, negotiating with Customer leadership.
  • Own project financials, lead forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Support construction, installation, and commissioning activities and ensure successful handover.

As a Project Manager for Power Systems / IPG business you will be responsible for the successful execution of complex power generation projects, including mobile and modular power plants, gas turbine installations, cogeneration facilities, and distributed power solutions. You will lead projects from contract award through customer acceptance, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, schedule, financial performance, and customer satisfaction.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Project Leadership: Driving end-to-end execution of power generation projects, ensuring delivery in accordance with contract requirements, scope, schedule, budget, quality, and customer expectations.
  • Team Coordination: Leading cross-functional and cross-country teams including engineering, planning, procurement, construction, quality, finance, ensuring seamless collaboration and accountability;
  • Risk & Compliance: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating execution, commercial, technical, and supply chain risks while driving opportunities to improve project profitability and customer value.
  • Customer Interface: Serving as the primary customer focal point throughout project execution, establishing strong relationships and ensuring proactive communication, issue resolution, and customer satisfaction.
  • Change Management: Identifying and executing project variations and change orders, negotiating directly with Customer leadership to maximize value;
  • Financial Performance: Owning project financials, driving strong outcomes across cost, margin, and cash flow. Lead forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting activities;
  • Site Execution & Commissioning: Supporting construction, installation, and commissioning activities, ensuring safe and compliant project execution through successful customer acceptance and handover.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Energy Systems, or related discipline), Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field from an accredited university. An advanced degree (MBA or Master's degree) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience managing complex industrial, energy, infrastructure, or power generation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and managing customer relationships in a challenging project environment.
  • Knowledge of power generation technologies, gas turbines, generators, balance of plant systems, or large industrial projects is preferred.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing project profitability, cash collection, and contractual matters.
  • Proven ability to manage project risks, stakeholder expectations, and schedule commitments.
  • Familiarity with global project management methodologies and execution frameworks; PMP, PMI, or equivalent project management certification is preferred..
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Availability to travel internationally to visit customers or Baker Hughes locations.
