We are seeking an experienced Product Manager, Product Development to lead the development of GNC private label products. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to define and deliver impactful products.

What You’ll Do:

This is a Full-Time Salary Position

The Project Manager of Product Development is responsible for managing products through all stages of development for GNC private label products. This position will oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to commercialization, by managing the initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing stages of a product. This is a highly collaborative position requiring the ability to lead, inform and influence cross-functional partners and stakeholders.

Product Development Process

  • Collaborate with multiple departments on product innovation. Collect and review documents required for product intake. Organize meetings and lead discussions to understand product vision.
  • Create comprehensive timelines for each product. Establish milestones and durations to ensure timely delivery for planned launch date.
  • Work with internal and external cross-functional partners to ensure key milestones and supporting tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Conduct cost analysis and present insights, along with recommended next steps, to internal team members.
  • Distribute RFQ to vendors, collect bids, and prepare a detailed bid summary with recommendations. Present findings to manager and director to determine best partner.
  • Identify risk throughout the project life cycle. Proactively recognize potential issues, explore solutions, and report findings accordingly
  • Participate in product sensory evaluations. Must be able to understand the customer expectation, competitive landscape in addition to personal preference when providing feedback.
  • Work with subject matter experts such as quality, R&D and Technical Product Development. Must be able to understand a SME’s role and their key responsibilities within the process.
  • Initiate projects with packaging department for label creation and be a key participant in the label review process. Must be able to collect, check for accuracy then upload documents for art round review.

Communication & Reporting

  • Manage and update product status using varying systems or standard documents. Report out status at a re-occurring period or impromptu request.
  • Must be comfortable in communicating clearly, leading discussions, and influencing others.
  • Participate in multiple weekly meetings. This includes calls with external partners and meetings with internal cross-functional teams. Must be able to recognize the need for additional meetings or calls to facilitate communication or address an urgent issue.
  • Maintain accurate records of project details that are organized and saved in appropriate locations.
  • Must be able to identify risks and promptly notify management, providing an overview of the situation, suggested solutions, and recommended next steps.
  • Create and circulate necessary reports to various business units.
  • Seek to be a meaningful voice in process improvements and help form and lead creating new processes.
  • Hybrid work environment, 3 days in-person attendance (Pittsburgh, PA) in addition to remote work.
  • Participate in sensory evaluations which includes consuming dietary supplements
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include long periods of computer screen usage, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science or Arts or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
  • 5+ years of specific experience in project management/ product development for private label consumer packaged goods
  • Ability to communicate written and verbally in a professional manner with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to focus quickly on changing situations or revised goals.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Computer: Excel (data storage, manipulation & analysis), Word and PowerPoint, Internet
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment in a highly organized fashion
  • Ability to critically read technical documents/formulations, identify and troubleshoot challenges, and analyze next steps/timing
  • Ability to interact with sales, marketing, and technical professionals (scientists/manufacturing)
  • A passion for health and wellness products and lifestyle is a plus
