Johnson Service Group is seeking a Project Manager for Nuclear Power Projects in Chattanooga, TN. This is a 12-month, long-term contract with a focus on leading complex nuclear projects and ensuring safety, environmental, quality, budget, and schedule goals are met.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, five years of utility project management experience, and PMI PMP certification is desirable. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is currently looking for a Project Manager (Nuclear Power Projects). This is a long-term contract with the largest public energy provider in the U.S.The Project Manager performs low- to moderately complex projects in accordance with the SPP34 Series and has delegated approval to work on projects through their respective Project Approval Board (PAB). This position is required to perform necessary training as documented in the SPP 34 series.Hourly Rate: $65.00 p/hCitizenship: U.S. Citizenship is requiredClient Location: Chattanooga, TN.Residency: Local or Regional candidates only.Duration: 12-month contract assignmentDescription:This project manager position has SOX Control requirements for both the employee and the manager. This position is the primary point of contact for each project and assumes the leadership role in managing the project to ensure safety, environmental, quality, budget, and schedule goals are met, or functions within a larger project.The Project Manager will apply professional principles, practices, and techniques; may supervise others; will set direction and prioritize resources to meet TVA’s objectives; is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, monitoring and controlling, quality, implementation, execution, and completion, within cost and schedule, of assigned projects. Resource availability and project objectives will guide and inform decisions. Successful project outcomes are achieved through collaboration, negotiation, and influencing of assigned project teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders, over whom the Project Manager may have no formal authority.Experience:Education – Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management, technical field, or equivalent education, training and/or related work experience.Experience – Requires five years of utility project manager experience, or equivalent functional area work experience with increasing levels of responsibility.Requires knowledge of project management techniques, experience to solve complex problems, and practical experience in project scoping and cost estimating.Requires ability to analyze complex technical problems and determine the most effective solution.Certification/License, etc. — Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — Project management professionals must possess a combination of communication, technical, leadership, strategic, and business management expertise, as well as the ability to learn and keep pace with technologyJob Duties:1. In compliance with all TVA processes and procedures, lead and manage projects from the initial planning phase to closure, including post-project analysis.2. Ensure projects are consistent with TVA project management strategy and policies, and in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.3. May support negotiations and implementation of pre-contract agreements before the issuance and approval of formal contract documents.4. Implement post-contract settlements with contractors at the end of the project.5. Communicate tactfully and sensitively while interfacing with external customers, news media, attorneys, and elected officials regarding issues that may be sensitive in nature.6. Fully develop project management plans, including, but not limited to, scope, schedule, cost, risk, safety, quality, performance measurements, etc.7. Ensure projects are managed using required project management software tools.8. Identify project risk and develop mitigation plans to minimize risk exposure.9. Plan and develop project schedules, including milestones.10. Employ sound cost estimating practices to prepare budget proposals.11. Coordinate with other TVA organizations to ensure efficient use of TVA resources.12. Ensure qualified, experienced personnel, including contractor personnel, are assigned to the project.13. Secure resources required to achieve project goals.14. Assign responsibilities and provide direction and support to the project team.15. Conduct effective performance evaluations and mentor those with less experience.16. Work collaboratively with staff to maintain thorough knowledge of project status and ensure communications are precise.17. Track and manage project progress, milestones, and deliverables.18. Present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions.19. Assess project issues, identify, and implement solutions to meet project goals.20. Solve technical and non-technical problems throughout the life of the project.21. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and develop contingency plans.22. If necessary, issue a stop-work order when an adverse risk is identified.23. If necessary, recommend and seek approval for budget changes.24. Effectively communicate project expectations to management, end users, and stakeholders.25. Proactively communicate project status, issues, and risks to management.26. Actively direct/manage multi-discipline teams, including internal and external resources.27. Coordinate, monitor, and control work performed by internal and external resources.28. Ensure project-related documents are complete, current, stored, and archived appropriately.29.
