Job summary

Fehr Graham in Monroe, WI is seeking a Municipal Project Manager to lead transportation projects from concept to construction. You will guide roadway, intersection and municipal infrastructure initiatives, manage budgets, schedules and client communications, and mentor design engineers.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering degree, 7–10 years of municipal/transportation experience and a Wisconsin PE license (or ability to obtain within six months).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 7–10 years of municipal or transportation engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Wisconsin or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with roadway design and WisDOT procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage municipal transportation projects including roadway reconstruction and traffic improvements.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets and designs.
• Coordinate with municipal clients, WisDOT, utilities and stakeholders.
• Mentor design engineers and staff to ensure QA/QC.

What you’ll do

As a Municipal Project Manager, you’ll lead and manage municipal transportation projects, including roadway reconstruction, resurfacing, streetscape and traffic improvement initiatives. You’ll also:

• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets and designs aligned with client expectations and funding requirements.
• Coordinate with municipal clients, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), local utilities and other stakeholders.
• Supervise and mentor design engineers and technical staff, ensuring deliverables meet quality assurance and quality control standards.
• Prepare proposals, cost estimates and technical reports to support business development and project pursuits.
• Represent Fehr Graham at public meetings, council sessions and client presentations.
• Oversee construction administration tasks and maintain strong relationships with contractors and field personnel.

What it takes

Ideally, you’ll have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. You should bring seven to ten years of experience in municipal or transportation engineering. A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Wisconsin is required or the ability to obtain licensure within the first six months of employment. Ideally, you will also:

• Have experience with roadway design (urban and rural), plan preparation and WisDOT procedures.
• Have strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to balance client management with project execution.
• Be able to manage multiple projects and mentor junior engineers effectively.
