Job summary

ARCO/Murray National Construction in Chicago seeks a Project Manager passionate about the design/build process to join our multi-family team. You will own project performance, client satisfaction, and drive projects from design to completion, with full profit and performance responsibility.

You will lead preconstruction planning, coordinate with design teams and subcontractors, and ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and safety standards while delivering value to clients.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or related field required.
• 2–5 years of construction management or engineering design experience.
• Experience leading ground-up commercial, multi-family, hospitality, or entertainment construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all managerial and administrative aspects from preconstruction to project closeout.
• Collaborate with clients and design team to develop preliminary concept drawings and project budget.
• Join proposal meetings with clients to review scope, reduce costs, provide value engineering ideas, and negotiate contracts & fees.
• Oversee subcontractor selection and buyout for trades and vendors.
• Identify opportunities to procure materials or equipment directly to optimize budget or schedule.
• Work with Project Superintendent to develop and review subcontractor scopes, schedule, and site logistics.
• Lead preconstruction planning meetings with designers, subcontractors, and vendors to solve constructability or manpower issues.
• Lead weekly/bi-weekly on-site meetings to review progress and address challenges with the client.
• Track and manage performance vs budget; prepare pay apps, cost status and progress billing reports.
• Make the construction process engaging and enjoyable for clients, subcontractors and vendors without compromising quality or safety.

Typical base compensation for the Project Manager role is between $84,000.00 - $135,000.00. Candidates with extensive experience may exceed this range. In addition to the base salary, the role is eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation based on individual and company.

• Identify and investigate opportunities to procure material and/or specialty equipment directly when advantageous to project budget or schedule.
• Work with Project Superintendent to develop and review subcontractor scopes of work/contracts, project schedule, and site logistics plan.
• Lead preconstruction planning meetings with all designers, subcontractors and vendors aimed at solving potential constructability, sequencing, and/or manpower issues.
• Lead weekly/bi-weekly OAC meetings on-site once construction begins to review progress and address challenges directly with client.
• Track and manage project performance vs budget; prepare owner pay applications, cost status, and progress billing reports.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering or related field.
• 2-5 years of construction management or engineering design experience.
• Previous experience leading ground-up commercial, light industrial, multi-family, hospitality, or entertainment construction projects is preferred.
• Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
