Job summary

Schindler Group in Mountainside, NJ seeks a Project Manager to lead elevator project bookings, coordinate with engineers, vendors, and field technicians, and ensure dates are met.

You will manage submittals, track progress, handle change orders, oversee invoicing, and participate in professional development. A degree is required, along with 3–5 years of related experience, strong communication, and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Preferred majors include Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management or Finance.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review and book projects within one week of award, notify Manager if dates cannot be met, and provide an action plan.
  • Provide approved submittals to Schindler Engineering and/or local vendors; coordinate material delivery and readiness.
  • Interface with stakeholders to track progress and notify Manager if dates cannot be met; provide action plan.
  • Seek change notice opportunities; prepare change order paperwork and obtain signed changes from customers before work.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and that projects are invoiced and paid to 90% before turnover.
  • Participate in professional development programs to enhance knowledge of products, services, and procedures.
  • Lead field technicians and build a collaborative team environment.
  • Manage training and development of field technicians on processes and standards.
  • Foster excellent communication among team members and maintain good relations with the local union.

Your main responsibilities
  • Review and book projects within one (1) week of award, notifying the Manager if required completion dates cannot be met, and providing action plan and time frame for completion.
  • Provide approved submittals to Schindler Engineering and/or local vendors following project booking; coordinate and follow up with factory, local vendors and superintendent on the delivery of project material to ensure that all required material is ready prior to project start date.
  • Interface with appropritae stakeholders to track job progress and notify manager if required completion dates cannot be met; provide action plan and time frame for completion.
  • Seek change notice opportunities; prepare all change order paperwork and forward to the customer in a timely manner; follow up on change orders, received signed change orders from the customer prior to any related work being completed.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and ensure projects are invoiced and paid to 90% before elevator turn over.
  • Participate in Company professional development programs to enhance working knowledge of Elevator Company products, services and procedures.
  • Build a team environment by leading field technicians.
  • Manage training and development of field technicians on established processes, tools and standards.
  • Foster excellent communication among team members while maintaining good working relationships with the local union.
What you bring
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred Major: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management or Finance
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office & Excel

Base Salary $113,400 - $140,500

The above represents the typical salary range for this position. Revisions to the range may be considered based on your experience, education, location, demonstrated skills, and alignment with business priorities. Please note that the compensation listed reflects only base salary and does not include variable incentives or benefits. This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on performance.
