Job summary

Schindler Elevator Corporation in Mountainside, NJ is seeking a Project Manager to lead site projects from award through completion. You will review schedules, coordinate with engineering, vendors, and field teams, and ensure timely delivery and invoicing.

Candidates should have an associate or bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of project management experience in the elevator industry, plus strong communication and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of Project Management experience in the Elevator Industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office & Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review and book projects within one week of award and notify the Manager if dates cannot be met.
• Provide approved submittals to Schindler Engineering and/or local vendors and coordinate with factory, vendors and superintendent on material delivery.
• Interface with stakeholders to track job progress and address delays with action plans and timeframes.
• Manage change orders and obtain signed change orders from customers before work begins.
• Ensure timely invoicing and that projects are invoiced and paid to 90% before turnover.
• Participate in professional development to expand knowledge of Schindler products, services and procedures.
• Lead field technicians and develop their skills through established processes and standards.
• Foster strong communication within the team and with the local union.

Your main responsibilities

• Review and book projects within one (1) week of award, notifying the Manager if required completion dates cannot be met, and providing action plan and time frame for completion.
• Provide approved submittals to Schindler Engineering and/or local vendors following project booking; coordinate and follow up with factory, local vendors and superintendent on the delivery of project material to ensure that all required material is ready prior to project start date.
• Interface with appropritae stakeholders to track job progress and notify manager if required completion dates cannot be met; provide action plan and time frame for completion.
• Seek change notice opportunities; prepare all change order paperwork and forward to the customer in a timely manner; follow up on change orders, received signed change orders from the customer prior to any related work being completed.
• Ensure timely invoicing and ensure projects are invoiced and paid to 90% before elevator turn over.
• Participate in Company professional development programs to enhance working knowledge of Elevator Company products, services and procedures.
• Build a team environment by leading field technicians.
• Manage training and development of field technicians on established processes, tools and standards.
• Foster excellent communication among team members while maintaining good working relationships with the local union.

What you bring

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree
• Preferred Major: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management or Finance
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office & Excel
• 3-5 years of experience in the following:
  • Project Management experience
  • Elevator Industry

Base Salary $113,400 - $140,500

The above represents the typical salary range for this position. Revisions to the range may be considered based on your experience, education, location, demonstrated skills, and alignment with business priorities. Please note that the compensation listed reflects only base salary and does not include variable incentives or benefits. This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on performance.
