Role Summary

The Aptitude Project Manager 2 will be responsible for constructability reviews, conceptual estimating, consultation, bid pricing, project management, change management, and coordination with project teams on technology or Aptitude scopes of work. This role requires a subject matter expert demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and project management skills to effectively integrate technology scopes on projects. All activities support JE Dunn's strategy, vision, and values.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

APTITUDE PROJECT MANAGEMENT FAMILY - CORE

  • Supports all aspects of the company's safety culture and promotes an injury-free environment.
  • Coordinates technology-related design and construction efforts to meet standards.
  • Provides technical expertise in design assist, installation, and network integration.
  • Creates technology-specific scopes of work and responsibility matrices.
  • Performs quantity takeoffs and obtains vendor & trade partner pricing for budgets or proposals.
  • Manages project budgets, costs, and projections.
  • Develops, disseminates, and enforces Aptitude processes and standards.
  • Leads, coaches, and motivates team members aligning with JE Dunn's values.
  • Supports Aptitude strategies to meet project objectives.
  • Participates in company communication and strategy to market and deliver technology services.
  • Manages budgets, schedules, staffing, billing, and collections.
  • Develops and manages project plans and schedules.
  • Tracks and reports on project milestones.
  • Communicates and resolves issues promptly.
  • Measures results and conducts post-project evaluations.
  • Ensures proper management and archiving of project documents.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

APTITUDE PROJECT MANAGER 2

  • Manages the technology consulting process with clients and partners.
  • Initiates business development activities to grow Aptitude's contribution.
  • Supports project pursuits to maximize Aptitude's value to customers.
  • Identifies and develops new technologies supporting Smart Building offerings.
  • Facilitates internal and external training on Aptitude offerings.
  • Maintains professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.
  • Engages with civic and municipal organizations to promote Aptitude as a differentiator.
  • Assists in staff recruitment, selection, orientation, and training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and timely.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Developing project proposals, fees, and work plans.
  • Strong personal and interpersonal skills as a self-starter.
  • Thorough understanding of project processes.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate internally and externally.
  • Manage budgets, maximize profitability, and foster future work through relationships.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, IT, or related field (Required).
  • Equivalent relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
Experience
  • 8+ years in IT/Security/Life Safety systems (Required).
  • 5+ years of project management experience (Required).
Working Environment
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Potential travel and/or relocation.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours.
  • Exposure to extreme conditions possible.
  • Work may occur at project sites or offices.
  • Frequent activity: Sitting, viewing screens.
  • Occasional activity: Standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling.
