Job summary

Alexander Associates Technical Recruitment is assisting a Kansas City engineering, surveying and planning consultancy to appoint a Senior Land Development Project Manager. This role requires leadership of private development projects and building strong client relationships in the Kansas City market.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Professional Engineer to lead technical teams, coordinate grading and utility design, and mentor engineers and developing PMs while driving project success

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license in Kansas or Missouri required.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in private land development.
• Proven project-management and team-leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead private Land Development projects from planning through construction.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules and technical deliverables.
• Direct civil engineers, designers and supporting staff.
• Coordinate grading, drainage, stormwater, paving and utilities.
• Maintain relationships with developers, municipalities and partners.
• Prepare proposals, scopes and fee estimates.
• Oversee quality control and regulatory compliance.
• Coach engineers and developing project managers.
• Deliver client presentations and represent the company at meetings.
• Monitor financial performance and client satisfaction.
• Assist with securing future projects and expanding the client base.

Job description

I am working with a growing engineering, surveying and planning consultancy that is looking to appoint a Senior Land Development Project Manager within its Kansas City operation.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Professional Engineer to manage private development projects, lead technical teams and build long-term client relationships across the Kansas City market.

Salary: $130,000-$180,000, depending on experience

Job Specifications:

• Lead private Land Development projects from initial planning through construction
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules and technical deliverables
• Direct civil engineers, designers and supporting technical personnel
• Coordinate grading, drainage, stormwater, paving and utility design
• Maintain relationships with private developers, municipalities and project partners
• Prepare project proposals, scopes of service and fee estimates
• Oversee quality control and regulatory compliance
• Coach and mentor engineers and developing project managers
• Deliver client presentations and represent the company at project meetings
• Monitor project financial performance and client satisfaction
• Assist with securing future projects and expanding the local client base

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer licence in Kansas or Missouri
• Approximately 10 or more years of relevant engineering experience
• Strong private Land Development background
• Proven project-management and team-leadership experience
• Ability to establish and maintain client relationships
• Knowledge of local, state and federal development regulations
• Understanding of project controls, proposals and commercial management
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, ArcGIS or similar software
• Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills
