Job summary

Ameritas is seeking a project manager to lead and organize project teams, delivering value with limited supervision. You will apply PM methodologies and consultative skills across problem solving, storytelling, and leadership to drive outcomes.

The role supports sponsor engagement, cost tracking and change management, with a hybrid work model alternating between in-office locations (Lincoln, NE or Cincinnati, OH) and remote work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 1-3+ years of related project management experience required.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or other similar project management certifications are useful.
  • Previous management consulting or external consulting experience desired.
  • MBA or similar advanced degree desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide sponsor engagement and document project objectives, benefits, success criteria, assumptions, constraints, and steering team membership.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to identify approaches, break down work into tasks, obtain estimates, and map dependencies.
  • Track project costs and monitor the budget.
  • Update plans, schedules, costs, and resources; report progress and variances.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand changes to processes and training provided.
  • Follow review/approval processes for deliverables while tracking risks and issues.
  • Evaluate changes for impact on scope, cost, quality, and schedule; provide alternatives for approval.
  • Implement approved changes and integrate into baselines; document lessons learned.

Job Description
This position leads and organizes project teams on discrete initiatives, utilizing project management methodologies and best practices to effectively deliver on an intended outcome and value for the organization. With little guidance or supervision, this role directs and provides oversight and reporting on projects with low complexity, narrow well-defined scope, and incremental business value, cost, and risk.

In addition to utilizing project management methodologies, this role is expected to contribute in a broad consultative manner leveraging competency in problem solving, structured thinking, quantitative skills, analytical skills, business acumen, professional communication, storytelling, leadership (matrixed / indirect), change management, and professional judgement.
This is a hybrid role working partially in-office (Lincoln, NE or Cincinnati,OH) and partially from home.

What you do:
  • Support sponsor engagement and documentation of project objectives, benefits, success criteria, assumptions, constraints, and project steering team membership.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to identify project approaches, break down project work into tasks, obtain estimates for those tasks, and identify task dependencies to create the project plan and schedule.
  • Track project costs and supporting budget monitoring.
  • Monitor and update project plans, schedules, costs, and resources and reports on progress and variances to plan.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand changes to business processes and appropriate training is provided.
  • Follow review/approval processes for project deliverables while tracking and managing project risks and issues.
  • Evaluate and document the degree to which changes would affect the project scope, cost, quality, and schedule and provide alternatives to project steering team and sponsors for approval.
  • Implement approved changes, manage related work tasks, and integrate approved changes into project baselines.
  • Identify causes of variances in project scope, schedules, costs, etc. Document lessons learned that allow for improvements in future delivery.

  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or other similar project management certifications are useful.
