Job summary

The AES Corporation in Dayton, OH is seeking a Capital Project Manager II to independently manage large-scale transmission, distribution, and infrastructure projects from planning through construction. This in-person role sits at the core of our PMO and drives on-time delivery, budget adherence, and safety across complex capital programs.

• 3–7 years of experience managing capital construction projects.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred.
• PMP certification preferred.
• Experience with SAP and Oracle P6 strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Manage multi‑million‑dollar capital projects ($5M–$50M+) with full accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, cash flows, and risk registers.
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure construction milestones and outages are executed safely and on time.
• Lead procurement planning, scope development, bid evaluations, and contract administration.
• Track and forecast project costs; provide detailed monthly reporting for PMO and leadership.
• Identify risks early and drive mitigation strategies.
• Support mentoring and development of junior PMs.
• Participate in PMO process improvement and lessons‑learned initiatives.

Location: Dayton, OH (Service Building)

Work Model: Primarily in‑person; occasional weekends/irregular hours as needed

About The Role

What We\'re Looking For

• 3–7 years of experience managing capital construction projects.
• Utility, infrastructure, or data center experience preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bachelor\'s degree required; Master\'s preferred.
• PMP preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP and Oracle P6 strongly desired.
