Job summary

K&A Power Group in Hartford, Connecticut, seeks a Project Manager II to lead engineering, procurement, and construction activities for energy projects. You will coordinate internal and external resources, drive schedules, control costs, and support siting and documentation.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering/Construction Management, 10–15 years’ experience (3+ in major projects), PMP preferred, and strong leadership, communication, and Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management or Construction Management preferred.
• PMP certification preferred.
• 10–15 years’ experience including 3+ years managing major engineering/procurement/construction activities.
• Strong safety-first focus.
• Knowledge of PM processes and tools.
• Proficiency with financial analysis tools in a utility setting.
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and stressful situations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Must be able to travel to office for meetings.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate internal and external resources to support project scope.
• Drive project schedule, managing scope and controlling costs.
• Assist with siting requirements and development plans.
• Administer RFIs, submittals, invoices, and change orders.
• Conduct recurring team meetings with project leads and track action items.
• Establish and coordinate change management with Owner and contractors.
• Coordinate between material/vendors and construction contractors.
• Develop and review technical bid documents and cost sheets.
• Prepare presentations for project stakeholders and input into negotiations.
• Provide inputs for basis of contract negotiations and cost reporting.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Manager II to join our team at K&A Power Group in Hartford, Connecticut. • Coordinating internal and external resources to support project scope. These resources include the following, which are included but not limited to:
  • Engineering
  • Outage Planning
  • Site and Permitting
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Scheduling
  • Safety
  • Cost Analysis
  • Project Closeout
  • Procurement
  • Contract Administration
  • Field operations/inspections
• Driving project schedule, managing scope, and controlling project costs
• Assisting with the execution and development of project siting requirements, which may involve site applications, petitions, development and management plans, and other applicable siting documents
• Administering/reviewing/developing the following items:
  • RFIs
  • Submittals
  • Desktop requisitions
  • Invoice review & approval
  • Change orders/Change Management
• Conducting reoccurring team meetings with leads from each project function, including action item tracking and coordination of follow up on outstanding items. The focus of these meetings will naturally shift to construction phase execution.
• Establishing and coordinating change management. This includes tracking the status and reporting on change management with Owner, as well as participating and/or facilitating change management negotiations and discussions with Owner’s contractors and suppliers.
• Working with Owner to administer contracts on Owner’s paper for construction phase owner supplied materials and construction services, as well as any remaining preconstruction work scope.
• Coordinating between material and equipment vendors and construction contractors
• Developing and reviewing technical bid documents
• Preparing presentations to applicable project stakeholders
• Providing requirements and inputs for basis of contract negotiations
• Preparing and presenting project cost sheets to Owner executive management
• Reporting regularly on project progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential project impacts.
• Support the integration and use of E-Builder
• Support Storm/ERP support as required

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering, Engineering Management, or Construction Management discipline preferred
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
• 10-15 years’ experience including 3 or more years managing major engineering/ procurement/ construction activities
• Strong Safety-First Focus
• Knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools
• Proficiency with financial analysis tools in a utility setting

Pay Range $125,000—$135,000/year
