Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is hiring a Project Manager II in Arlington, Virginia. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Program Manager to prepare plans, coordinate resources, and manage specific projects.

Compensation ranges from $115,000 to $175,000 annually, dependent on experience, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits program.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of experience in a technical role or federal/government environment.
  • Active Secret clearance or Top Secret with SCI eligibility.

Responsibilities

As the Project Manager II, you will work closely with the Program Manager to prepare comprehensive plans, coordinate resources, and perform other administrative and programmatic duties. You will also organize, direct, and coordinate the planning, oversight, and implementation of specific projects and initiatives within the bounds of a program. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide high‑level administrative support to the Program Manager.
  • Serve as a liaison between team members, the Program Manager, and Customer project managers.
  • Support the recruiting and hiring processes (review candidate resumes, coordinate interviews, etc.).
  • Assist with processing and tracking candidates through the government background check processes.
  • Create and track project deliverables, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop project requirements and ensure adherence throughout execution and delivery.
  • Create and maintain project budgets and schedules.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, and opportunities, and raise escalation as needed.
  • Assist with the creation and tracking of program deliverables, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports.
  • Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to all participants.
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship (8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C)).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 6–8 years of experience in a project coordinator or project management role and 4–6 years of experience in a technical role or federal/government environment.
  • Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret with SCI eligibility, or active Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
  • Subject to federal background investigation.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and coordinate personnel resources to achieve program and project objectives.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly detail‑oriented with excellent follow‑through, prioritization, and time‑management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with both Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to various company locations and/or customer sites across the United States, including domestic and international flights, and operate a motor vehicle for extended periods.
Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for applicants and employees. The salary range for this position is USD $115,000.00/Yr. – USD $175,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans, insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
