Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Project Manager I in Smyrna, GA to define project goals, develop plans, and lead high-speed packaging and automation initiatives. You will coordinate stakeholders across engineering, sales, supply chain, and manufacturing to ensure timely, on-specification delivery.

The role offers growth within a global packaging leader, with responsibilities for budgeting, scheduling, and risk management, plus travel opportunities and strong collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree from ABET-accredited program
• 0-2 years of experience in leading projects
• Experience in leading projects or process improvements
• Ability to solve problems creatively
• Packaging Machinery Equipment experience is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
• Strong multitasking and motivational abilities
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Define project goals, objectives, and scope for high-speed packaging and automation machinery
• Create a project plan with tasks, timelines and resources
• Ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications
• Track and report project progress
• Facilitate communication between stakeholders including technical sales, engineering, supply chain and manufacturing
• Work with management and external stakeholders to define scope, objectives and timing
• Predict resources needed and coordinate with functional managers
• Coordinate with supply chain to communicate timing to vendors
• Address issues and manage change requests impacting schedule and budget
