Job summary

K&A Power Group in Rochester, New York is seeking a Project Manager I to lead large-scale utility projects from initiation to closeout. You will coordinate teams, manage scope, schedule, and budget, and act as the primary liaison with clients and contractors.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of program management in utilities, plus a PE license and/or PMP certification. Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint is required to drive compliant, on‑time project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5+ years in large-scale projects/program management for utility business.
• Professional Engineer License and/or PMP Certification is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Minimum five years’ experience in substations, T&D, Gas-Hydro and OSG.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope, develop WBS, cost baseline, and OBS; manage schedule and budget.
• Lead and coordinate project teams; remove obstacles and drive performance.
• Ensure quality and environmental processes meet SPI/CPI targets below 1.0.
• Oversee third‑party projects and external stakeholders; manage communications.
• Serve as main point of contact between contractors and client; monitor performance and resolve disputes.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Manager I to join our team at K&A Engineering in Rochester, New York. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. • Initiation, Planning, Executing, and Closing Projects — defining the project WBS, Cost Baseline and OBS structure, initiating the project, building its comprehensive work plan, controlling and managing to the risks, scope, schedule and budget
• Managing Teams — facilitating commitment and productivity, removing obstacles, and managing teams
• Implementation and Management of Quality and Environmental Process and procedures on all projects focusing on meeting SPI and CPI performance indicators less than 1.0
• Management of third-party projects including other transmission Customers and interconnecting customers
• Accountable and Responsible for:
  • Cost /Budgeting and Management
  • Communication Management

  • Commissioning Management Oversight

  • Regulatory and Stakeholder Management
• Responsible for the execution and successful completion of the project and the main point of contact between contractors and the client on all project matter.
• Responsible for monitoring and measuring project performance throughout the project and resolving any contract disputes relative to costs, scope, and schedule.

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree is Required
• 5+ years in large scale projects/program management for utility business
• Professional Engineer License and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
• Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and
• Project Management Professional or Program Management Professional
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the functional area under which it will be contracted: Substations, T&D, Gas-Hydro and OSG

Pay Range: $115,000-$125,000/annually
