Job summary

Confident Search Consultants seeks a Project Manager for heavy civil highway and utility projects in Virginia Beach and the Hampton Roads area. You will own cost, schedule and profit from buyout through closeout, coordinating with field teams on road and utility work, much of it VDOT related, with relocation assistance available.

Candidates should have 7+ years in heavy civil, DOT experience preferred, a civil engineering or construction management degree, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in heavy civil, highway or utility projects with PM or senior APM role.
• VDOT or other DOT project experience strongly preferred.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent field experience.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to relocate to Virginia.
• Experience with cost control, scheduling, and change orders.

Responsibilities

• Own project cost, schedule and profit from buyout through closeout.
• Build and manage the project schedule with the field team.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers and purchase orders.
• Run monthly pay applications, cost reports and forecasts.
• Handle change orders and owner negotiations.
• Be the main contact for VDOT and owner representatives.
• Lead weekly project meetings and cost reviews.
• Work with the superintendent on production and safety.
• Mentor APMs and project engineers on your team.

Project Manager, Heavy Civil / VDOT

Location: Virginia Beach / Hampton Roads, VA area (Virginia projects, relocation available)

An established, family owned self perform heavy civil contractor with more than 50 years in Virginia is hiring a Project Manager for heavy civil highway and utility projects across the state. This is a strong opportunity for a Project Manager or senior APM with VDOT or other DOT experience who wants ownership of real projects with a contractor that keeps winning work. You'll run roadway, highway and utility projects from start to finish, much of it VDOT work. Hampton Roads candidates are great, and candidates from anywhere ready to relocate are welcome.

What You'll Be Responsible For

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years on heavy civil, highway or utility projects, with recent time as a PM or senior APM
• VDOT or other DOT project experience strongly preferred
• Proven cost, schedule and change order management
• B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
• HCSS HeavyJob, HeavyBid or P6 experience is a plus
• Valid driver's license
• Based in Virginia or ready to relocate, relocation assistance available
