Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking a Project Manager for heavy civil underground utility-scale power/dry utilities projects. The role requires coordinating internal departments, subcontractors, and clients, with a focus on budget, schedule, and quality in multiple states including Michigan.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of heavy civil PM/CM/QC experience, proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and HCSS HeavyJob/HeavyBid. Travel is required and U.S. work authorization is a must.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years minimum experience on heavy civil projects.
• PM/CM/QC roles on large-scale power projects in civil construction.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with HCSS HeavyJob/HeavyBid and MS Project.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate new projects with internal teams, subcontractors and clients.
• Track project completion, production rates, materials, equipment, and changes.
• Read and understand project documents and specifications; ensure work per design.
• Schedule building and maintenance; review AP invoices and monthly billings.
• Manage budgets and projections; review timecards; maintain client relationships.

Position: Project Manager - Heavy Civil Underground Utility-Scale Power/Dry Utilities Projects
Location: Gilbert, AZ, Prineville, OR and MI Office (20% Travel)
Salary: $125,000 - $185,000 annually, DOE

R-2 Contractors is currently seeking a motivated Project Manager - Heavy Civil to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our continued success with a company that values integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

• New project planning & coordination amongst internal departments, subcontractors, and clients.


• Proper tracking of project completion, daily production rates, materials, equipment usage, changes to conditions, etc.


• Effectively understand the scope of work, terminology, and project documents.


• Read, interpret, understand, and recognize project specifications and project drawings. Utilize all documents to construct the project per design.


• Schedule building and maintenance.


• AP invoice review/approval.


• Monthly billings.


• Timecard review/approval.


• Budget review and understanding.


• Budget maintenance during construction.


• Project projections (material, productivity, manpower, equipment).


• Relationship building (internal/external).

Requirements:

• 3-5 years minimum experience working on heavy civil projects.


• Experience utilizing many layers of project documents to effectively comply with project building requirements.


• Experience in PM, CM, or QC roles on large-scale power projects involving civil construction within the power industry.


• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.


• Experience with or willingness to be trained on HCSS Software (HeavyJob & HeavyBid).


• Experience with or willingness to be trained on Microsoft Project.


• Must be a team player and willing to perform multiple duties as the need arises.


• Must be detail-oriented, organized, and self-driven.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.


• Able to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and a driving record check acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier.


• Willing and able to work long hours and in varying conditions.


• This position is subject to drug testing and background check.

Desired / Preferred Experience:

• Utility-scale civil construction experience.


• Utility-scale solar project experience.


• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project experience.


• Renewable energy infrastructure experience.


• Heavy civil scopes associated with large-scale power and energy projects, including excavation, grading, trenching, underground utilities, and concrete foundations.


• Direct project management experience supporting utility-scale solar, BESS, or other renewable energy projects is preferred.
