Job summary

KLA Industries in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Project Manager for NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility work. You will lead projects from preconstruction through closeout, managing budgets and schedules while coordinating with superintendents, engineers and vendors.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years PM experience on heavy civil, proven NCDOT PM experience, and a contractor background. This role offers a backlog of won work, a direct line to senior leadership, and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years PM of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility work.
• NCDOT project experience as PM required.
• End-to-end project delivery experience as PM; not an APM or EIT role.
• Contractor-side background required; consultants and inspectors not a fit.
• OSHA 30 is a plus.
• Charlotte area preferred; relocation welcome.

Responsibilities

• Run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects as the Project Manager of record, from preconstruction through closeout.
• Own the budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margin on every job you run.
• Submit accurate cost and income projections and act on variances early.
• Lead superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to hit production, quality and safety.
• Serve as the main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors.
• Issue subcontracts and purchase orders and manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals, claims and contract documentation.
• Run weekly project meetings on schedule and cost, and report performance to leadership.
• Work with estimating on bids and the handoff so the job starts right.
• Keep a strong safety culture on every site.
