Job description

Established nearly two centuries ago, FM is a leading mutual insurance company whose capital, scientific research capability and engineering expertise are solely dedicated to property risk management and the resilience of its policyholder-owners. These owners, who share the belief that the majority of property loss is preventable, represent many of the world’s largest organizations, including one of every four Fortune 500 companies. They work with FM to better understand the hazards that can impact their business continuity to make cost-effective risk management decisions, combining property loss prevention with insurance protection.

The Project Manager leads the successful delivery of complex technology and business initiatives. The role serves as a central coordination point among engineering, product, machine-learning, client-facing, operations, and business teams, translating priorities into executable plans and maintaining clear ownership across roadmaps, sprints, releases, development requests, quality assurance, onboarding, and client escalations.

This position is accountable for delivery visibility, disciplined prioritization, dependency management, risk and issue escalation, resource coordination, and stakeholder communication. The Technical Project Manager helps teams deliver predictable outcomes, supports organizational readiness for change, tracks progress against defined objectives and success measures, and promotes consistent project and program management practices.

Responsibilities
  • Engineering roadmaps, releases, and sprint management: Coordinate engineering roadmaps, release schedules, sprint planning, and delivery activities. Establish milestones, clarify priorities, track commitments, identify dependencies, and help teams resolve barriers that could affect scope, timing, quality, or business value.
  • Development-ticket and inbound-request ownership: Own the intake, documentation, triage, prioritization, assignment, and tracking of development tickets and inbound technical requests. Maintain a clear view of status, decisions, dependencies, service expectations, and required follow‑up.
  • Release quality assurance and validation: Coordinate release readiness, quality‑assurance activities, acceptance testing, defect tracking, and post‑release validation. Confirm that requirements and acceptance criteria are documented, responsible owners are identified, and unresolved risks are escalated before implementation.
  • Technical client‑channel monitoring and escalation: Monitor designated technical client channels for questions, incidents, patterns, and emerging concerns. Route issues to the appropriate technical or business owner, facilitate timely escalation, document decisions, and maintain communication through resolution.
  • New‑client onboarding support: Coordinate technical work associated with new client onboarding, including requirements gathering, implementation planning, data and system readiness, issue tracking, stakeholder communication, and handoffs among client, engineering, product, and business teams.
  • Machine‑learning data and model‑training coordination: Coordinate contributors supporting machine‑learning data preparation, labeling, validation, and model‑training activities. Track assignments, dependencies, quality requirements, delivery progress, and decisions in partnership with the appropriate technical owners.
  • Special‑client‑request routing: Evaluate, document, and route special client requests to the appropriate product, engineering, machine‑learning, operations, or business teams. Ensure ownership, priority, feasibility considerations, decisions, and follow‑up actions are clearly recorded.
  • Portfolio planning and prioritization: Partner with PMO and functional leaders to prioritize initiatives and assess pipeline and readiness. Proactively evaluate the impact of planned changes on business operations, clients, and employees, and manage cross‑project dependencies.
  • Project reporting, risk, and issue management: Maintain project plans, dashboards, decision logs, and status reporting covering milestones, deliverables, resource needs, risks, issues, and dependencies. Communicate project health and elevate matters requiring leadership attention or cross‑functional resolution.
  • Stakeholder alignment and change readiness: Build effective working relationships with sponsors, functional leaders, and cross‑functional team members. Create shared understanding of the purpose, approach, expected value, and operational impact of prioritized initiatives.
  • Standards and continuous improvement: Apply consistent project and change‑management practices, support compliance with adopted PMO standards and tools, and share lessons learned and practical improvements across portfolio initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, project management, technology, engineering, insurance, operations, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree and project or program management certification, such as PMP
Experience
  • At least five years of experience in project management, program delivery, technology operations, product delivery, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross‑functional teams and delivering complex technology or business initiatives with competing priorities and interdependent workstreams.
  • Experience coordinating engineering roadmaps, sprints, releases, development‑ticket workflows, quality assurance, or technical‑client support processes.
  • Experience communicating project health, risks, decisions, and delivery tradeoffs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience within a PMO, agile delivery environment, insurance organization, or enterprise setting is preferred.

The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience. The position is eligible to participate in FM’s comprehensive Total Rewards program that includes an incentive plan, generous health, and well‑being programs, a 401(k) and pension plan, career development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, flexible work, time off allowances, and much more!
