Job summary

PCiRoads Inc, a subsidiary of C. S. McCrossan, is seeking a Field Project Manager to oversee heavy highway construction projects seasonally in Minnesota.

  • 3+ years of heavy highway construction experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of maintenance of traffic.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects in varying locations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of summarizing complex information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and 365.
  • Travel primarily within Minnesota and eastern Dakotas, ~25%.

Position Description
Job Overview

The Field Project Manager will oversee and manage heavy highway construction projects. This job requires knowledge of heavy highway construction practices. The Field Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the construction process, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with plans, specs, and safety regulations. This is a seasonal union position, approx. 35 weeks per year.

Primary Responsibilities

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Coordinate with engineers and subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Review and interpret project plans, and specifications to ensure compliance.
  • Put together and track submittals

Construction Management:

  • Oversee all construction activities, including but not limited to excavation, grading, paving, and drainage.
  • Monitor progress and quality of work to ensure adherence to project specifications and standards.
  • Conduct regular site visits to inspect work progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.

Schedule and Cost Control:

  • Develop and maintain project schedules
  • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and payment requests.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to minimize accidents and injuries.

Team Leadership and Communication:

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to address concerns, resolve issues, and maintain positive relationships.
  • There is constant exposure to various weather conditions typical in the states where the work is performed, including noise, dust, and other materials.
  • The work environment is in areas where heavy equipment, power tools and traffic are present.
  • There is exposure to heights up to 50 feet and depths of up to 80 feet in this construction work environment.
  • Demonstrate or be corrected to 20/20 vision.
Physical Demands
  • The employee must be able to lift (including above shoulder or head), move, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to input information, handle, carry (with and without assistance), feel objects, tools (of varying size and weight), or controls.
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear, and taste or smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent exposure to high noise levels.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all Company safety requirements, policies and safety training.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • High School Diploma / Equivalent
  • 3+ Years of Heavy Highway construction experience preferred
  • Expertise and knowledge to oversee construction planning, scheduling, and staging.
  • General knowledge of maintenance of traffic.
  • Organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment managing multiple projects in a variety of locations simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to summarize complex information into easy to understand directions and explanations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 programs.
  • Ability to travel for short trips primarily within the Minnesota and eastern Dakotas, estimated at 25%.
