Job summary

MSS Solutions, LLC in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Project Manager - Fabrication to support the Project Engineer team with detailed cost estimates, material and labor inputs, and bid preparation.

You will coordinate with Engineering, BIM, and Mechanical Operations, develop scopes of work, review blueprints, approve invoices, and help determine project pricing. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience as a Project Manager in Mechanical Construction or fabrication/manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operation manuals.
  • Proficient communication with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with MSS Engineering, BIM, and Mechanical Operations teams.
  • Determine mechanical construction needs to meet customer facilities requirements.
  • Approve invoices.
  • Provide closeout documentation and warranty coverage.
  • Develop scope of work and project specifications.
  • Coordinate project schedule.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders for subcontractors.
  • Negotiate prices with vendors/sub-contractors to optimize costs.
  • Document work by maintaining files for each job.
  • Review and maintain cost estimates for materials and subcontractors.
  • Work with engineering on equipment specification and pricing.
  • Up to 10% travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The candidate will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Project Engineer team in creating detailed cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor, and other project-related activities to help Managers and Project Managers in bidding on or determining the price of the project.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with MSS Engineering, BIM, and Mechanical Operations teams
  • Determine Mechanical Construction needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all the customer’s facilities requirements.
  • Approve invoices.
  • Provide complete closeout documentation and warranty coverage.
  • Develop scope of work and project specifications.
  • Coordinate project schedule.
  • Prepare and issues purchase orders for subcontractors.
  • Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors
  • Provide complete closeout documentation and warranty coverage.
  • Document work by maintaining files for each job.
  • Responsible for reviewing and maintaining cost estimates of material, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, and other project-related activities.
  • Work with engineering on the specification and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
  • Up to 10% travel required.
  • Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company from time to time.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • 2 Years of Experience as a Project Manager in Mechanical Construction or at a fabrication/manufacturing shop or facility, specifically skid design and pre-fabrication elements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college, military training or technical school preferred
  • Proven success in managing large projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations manual, and written directions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications
  • Ability to abide by basic safe work practices
  • Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to write reports.
  • Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable.
  • Random drug testing is required.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • On path to attain EI certification
  • Knowledge and general understanding of Autodesk Products specifically Revit and AutoCAD
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, occasional stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Frequent standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in person and/or on the telephone, vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data, and repetitive motions for computer equipment use.
  • Material Handling: Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and constant lifting up to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).

Work Environment: Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places (job sites) and/or an office environment with conditioned air and bright lights.
