Job summary

Carolina Pipe Fabrication, LLC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager - Fabrication to support design and management of prefabricated systems. The role involves planning, coordinating with Project Managers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors to meet customer facility requirements.

You will develop scope of work, participate in schedules, assist with equipment specs, issue purchase orders, and help with cost estimates while maintaining documentation and supporting closeout activities.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes and best practices
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
  • Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, occasional stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Frequent standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone, vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data, repetitive motions for computer equipment use.

Responsibilities

  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the design and project management of prefabricated systems which will include planning, organizing, and executing facility projects while maintaining close interaction with other Project Managers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in determining fabrication needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all the customer's facilities requirements.
  • Assist with coordinating with sales to provide data needed to assemble project scope.
  • Coordinate project-specific engineering.
  • Develop scope of work and project specifications.
  • Work with the project schedule.
  • Work with engineering to determine equipment specifications and procure materials.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders for subcontractors.
  • Provide complete closeout documentation and warranty coverage.
  • Assist in reviewing and maintaining cost estimates of material, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, and other project-related activities.
  • Work with engineering on the specification and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
  • Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors.
  • Document work by maintaining files for each job.
  • Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time

Work Environment:

Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places (job sites) and/or an office environment with conditioned air and bright lights.
