You will estimate costs, manage residential and some commercial projects, coordinate with contractors and staff, and ensure high-quality execution while meeting deadlines.

  • Bill out jobs and assist with invoices; stay updated on industry trends, costs, and estimation techniques.

Job Description

We are an established painting company that has been in business for over 40 years. We are currently looking for an estimator/project manager to join our team. We are seeking an individual who is self-motivated and has a good level of product knowledge along with some field experience.

As a Project Estimator you will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of our projects by providing accurate and reliable cost estimates. You will work closely with 2 other project managers, contractors, painters, office staff and customers. This person will estimate costs related to project requirements, assess potential risks of the projects, and develop and direct in-house employees and subcontractors. We are looking for a self-starter experienced in the trade. You must have a driver’s license and be able to be insured to drive under our insurance policy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Job Estimation: This position entails meeting with customers to determine job goals and needs. One will need to accurately estimate the costs associated with materials, labor, equipment, and other project expenses.
  2. Project Manage: Scheduling, preparation and management of the residential division and some commercial work. This position will directly manage employees’ time and job progress. This can be a high stress environment when coordinating the balance between customers/employees/length of the project.
  3. Collaboration: One will work closely with other project managers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure the success of the project. This part of the job requires one to be highly organized and have excellent time management skills. Ensuring the shop, jobsites and office are neatly organized with fellow coworkers is essential for smooth operations.
  4. Customer Service: This position will be at the forefront of our customer interactions and serve as a trusted advocate for the business. This position handles a variety of inquiries, concerns, and requests from customers. Ensuring that each interaction is handled with professionalism, empathy and efficiency is key to the project’s success and customers satisfaction.
  5. Documentation and Record Keeping: This position will require personal record keeping and filing skills. One must maintain records of project-related documentation. Excellent communication with customers and vendors is needed to support project tracking and success.
  6. Billing and Goal Assessments: This position requires some accounting skills. It will be required to bill out the jobs and approve invoices relating to job and shop expenses. It will be important to stay updated on industry trends, cost factors, and best practices in estimation techniques to enhance accuracy and efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, hospitality or related field is a must.
  • Proven experience as a project estimator in a similar industry or environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project requirements and documentation.
  • Proficiency in estimation. Flexibility to work shifts, including evening and weekends if necessary.
  • Some knowledge in home mechanics and the construction process. Painting knowledge is preferred (although we will train).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a focus on quality and time.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a solution-oriented mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Empathetic and patient attitude with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Base salary: Between $75,000 - $80,000 depending on experience. Additional bonus Structure tied to job profitability.
