Job summary

Indotronix Avani Group seeks a seasoned Project/Portfolio Manager to lead school district fleet electrification initiatives. You will oversee multiple projects, manage contracts and invoices, and serve as the bridge between districts, bus fleets, contractors, and engineering firms.

Ideal candidates have 7–10 years in program management, 2–3 years in EV charging, and knowledge of electric transportation or how school buses operate.

Job description

The PM helps school districts start and finish fleet electrification plans. They also support decisions after the plan so districts meet New York’s zero-emission school bus requirements. This is a backfill: the last contractor held the role for about two years.

• Team of 4: Mike plus three staff and contractors who run the day-to-day work.
• The team has hundreds of FEP projects underway.
• Engineering firms do the analysis (buses, charging, utility capacity). Districts pick these firms from NYSERDA’s approved list. The PM does not do the analysis.
• The PM oversees the firms, manages contracts, and reviews deliverables and invoices. They also go between districts, bus fleets and contractors, and the engineering firms.
• Lauren stressed the need for someone with a “soft touch” when dealing with districts.
• Must-have: project and portfolio management, with strong organization across many projects.
• Must-have: communication and teamwork. They need to explain engineering work to districts new to the topic, and the other way around.
• Must-have: experience managing planning efforts.
• Must-have: problem solving when planning runs into problems.
• Overall experience: 7–10 years.
• Plus: 2–3 years of EV charging experience. The team knows it’s a newer field.
