Overview
Base pay range: $100,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr. Work on a variety of education, institutional and commercial construction projects throughout the Kansas City area. The client is an established design-build general contractor seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee projects and teams.
Our client, a reputable General Contractor based in Kansas City, has been a cornerstone of the construction industry for over 60 years. Specializing in education and commercial construction projects, they are renowned for their collaborative work environment and strong, long-standing relationships with local municipalities and clients. They are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team, overseeing education and commercial projects, and mentoring a talented group of Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Managers.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly understand all project specifications, the contract general conditions, and ensure materials and subcontract work comply with contract documents and quality specifications.
- Execute the established schedule and maintain regular follow-up and communication on progress with project managers and owners.
- Determine work priorities, estimate manpower needs, and assign work activities among employees according to abilities or specialized training.
- Coordinate and track job-site materials, equipment and subcontractors.
- Manage all labor costs related to the project; monitor expenditures, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to meet the budget.
- Ensure employees are trained on work standards, duties, site rules, safety standards, and regulations.
- Complete and maintain project documents including equipment maintenance reports, activity logs, safety reports, and timekeeping records.
- Lead inspection of day-to-day construction work to enforce conformity to contract specifications.
- Oversee site quality control.
- Act as an adviser on job-related problems and manage employee performance and discipline as needed.
- Create a culture that values safety, health, and cleanliness on site.
Qualifications / Profile
- Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred, not required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry on complex projects
- Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications for institutional, commercial and industrial projects
- Ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders (owners, subcontractors, project managers, field employees)
- Solid understanding of project cost analysis
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, email, and other software used in construction
