Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington seeks a Project Manager – Design and Construction to lead capital projects from programming through close-out. You will ensure schedules, budgets, and Owner’s Requirements are met, coordinating with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and vendors.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a related field with five years' experience (two in PM), and experience with projects over $60 million.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, or closely related field with five years of experience, including two years in project management.
• Experience with projects exceeding $60 million.
• Master's degree preferred in architecture, construction management, or related field.
• Licensed architect or engineer and eight years of experience, including five years in project management, preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction-phase projects to keep them on schedule and within budget and aligned with contract requirements and stakeholder needs.
• Coordinate programming and design-phase activities, manage scope, and oversee design deliverables within budget and schedule.
• Serve as primary point of contact for projects, coordinating communication among teams, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
• Assist with in-house projects as workload allows and prepare executive-level project updates.

Job description

Purpose of Position

The Project Manager – Design and Construction provides professional project management leadership for capital projects through programming, design, construction, and close-out, ensuring assigned projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with Owner’s Project Requirements, campus standards, end-user needs, and contract documents while coordinating with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, vendors, and other project partners.

Essential Functions

• Manage assigned construction-phase projects to ensure work remains on schedule, within budget, and aligned with contract requirements, stakeholder needs, inspections, reporting, document review, third-party technical services, and owner-furnished procurement.
• Lead programming and design-phase project activities by coordinating meetings, managing project scope, supporting vendor proposal negotiations, and ensuring design deliverables align with project requirements, budgets, schedules, and guiding documents.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects and coordinate communication among project teams, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
• Assist with in-house projects as workload and project priorities allow.
• Assist with the preparation of executive-level presentations and project updates.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable design and construction codes, regulations, and building-specific requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, or closely related field of study and five (5) years of experience, to include two (2) years dedicated to project management.
• Experience with projects exceeding $60 million.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, or closely related field of study.
• Licensed architect or engineer (electrical, mechanical, structural, civil) and eight (8) years of experience, to include five (5) years dedicated to project management.
• Experience with higher education projects exceeding $100 million.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Appropriate knowledge of computer applications, such as MS Office Suite, MS Project, Bluebeam, and project management software.
• Previous exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other drafting/BIM programs.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm
