The Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) is seeking a Project Manager to oversee complex, cross-functional projects from inception to delivery in a healthcare context. The role emphasizes coordinating technical delivery, planning, risk monitoring, and process improvement.

The position reports to the Director of Client Relations and requires strong collaboration with delivery teams, stakeholders, and internal units.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing technical projects using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid.
  • Understanding of system architecture, SDLC, and infrastructure to guide delivery.
  • Experience with MS Project and Azure DevOps for project management.
  • Ability to translate technical details into clear documentation and action items.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

Job description

The mission of the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) is to be the agency of record for Massachusetts health care information, to responsibly steward sensitive and confidential data, and to objectively report reliable and meaningful information about the quality, affordability, utilization, access, and outcomes of the Massachusetts health care system.

The Project Manager will manageandassistonall aspects of complex projects frominceptionto conclusionincluding technicalprojectdelivery and independently manage defined workstreams, assisting with planning, coordination, riskmonitoring,andprocessimprovementefforts. The successful candidate will be driven and enthusiastic and want to make a tangible impact on a criticalcomponentof the Commonwealth’s healthcare reform system.

At CHIA, we foster a flexible, collaborative environment, offering a hybrid model that balances in-person and remote work. Our hybrid model includes working from our vibrant Boston office at 501 Boylston Street for at least two designated days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely onothers.

Reporting to the Director of Client Relations, the Project Manager will:

Partnership and Technical Guidance

Partner with delivery teams to assess technical feasibility, align realistic timelines, and guide projects using knowledge of system architecture, SDLC, data, and infrastructure needs.

Project Leadership and Coordination

Lead software development and data management projects from planning through delivery, keeping people informed, aligned, and focused on shared goals.

Coordinate with directors and cross-functional teams to manage resources, risks, issues, dependencies, impact analyses, and contingency plans so projects stay on track

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

Serve as a trusted liaison for clients, stakeholders, sister agencies, and internal teams by gathering information, documenting options, and supporting collaborative problem-solving.

Facilitate meetings, follow up with team members, prepare clear project documentation and status updates, and support CHIA project managementforbest practices.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience managing technical projectsusing Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid.

Demonstrated understandingof systemarchitecture, software development lifecycles (SDLC), and infrastructure requirements to evaluate technical feasibility and guide delivery team.

Project management experience and knowledge of MS Project and Azure DevOps.

Ability to learn technical processes and translate projectdetailsinto clear documentation, status updates, and action itemsusing technicalexpertise.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writingwith technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to respond to changes in priorities in a flexible manner.

Experience delivering projects on time, and within scope.

Strong customer service background to resolve user requests andmaintainclientrelationships.

Ability toidentify, isolate, and communicate issues and risks, and develop agency-wideprocedures, standards, and guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a healthcare environment, public agency,or IT department

Experience withcraftingclear and well-structured business requirements and documentation

PMP Certification.

Total Compensation:

We value the talent andexpertiseyou bring to the table. We offer a competitive salary range of$105,000-$120,000for this position. Salary iscommensuratewith experience. CHIA may adjust title, responsibilities, and salary depending on the experience andexpertiseof the individual selected.
