Job summary

Sun Recruiting - The Chemical Specialists in Houston seeks a Senior Project Manager / Coordinator to lead capital and debottlenecking projects in a safety-focused chemical plant environment, reporting to the Plant Manager.

You will oversee scope, schedules, and costs, coordinate contractors and turnarounds, and ensure alignment across Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and vendors from definition through close-out. Local Houston candidates preferred; travel <10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, including leadership of capital and debottlenecking projects in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment.
• Experience developing project scope, cost estimates, budgets, and schedules from project definition through implementation and close-out.
• Strong vendor and contractor management experience, including bid evaluation, contract coordination, cost control, and invoice review.
• Experience coordinating turnarounds or major capital projects while supporting day-to-day contractor needs.
• Ability to align Process Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, vendors, and contractors across the full project lifecycle.
• PMP or a similar project management certification preferred.
• Local Houston-area candidates preferred; travel is less than 10%.
