Job summary

Spencer Ogden in United States, Georgia is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support a high-volume capital project portfolio within a chemical/process manufacturing environment. This role manages multiple projects from concept through startup, ensuring safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness.

You will collaborate with plant leadership, corporate teams and external contractors to drive successful project outcomes, lead EPC activities, and maintain scopes, schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred).
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience managing capital projects in chemical, petrochemical, or refining environments.
  • Proven experience executing projects from concept through startup.
  • Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full lifecycle capital projects from conceptual engineering through commissioning and startup.
  • Lead engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities for assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain project scopes, schedules, budgets, and cost estimates.
  • Monitor and control project execution, proactively addressing risks, changes, and resource constraints.
  • Coordinate with plant operations, corporate stakeholders, and third-party contractors to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Ensure all projects meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Support construction management activities including contractor oversight and field execution.
  • Provide regular project updates and reporting to leadership.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project execution processes and capital efficiency.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support and execute a high-volume capital project portfolio within a chemical/process manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery from concept through startup.

You will play a key role in a fast-paced capital program, working closely with plant leadership, corporate teams, and external contractors to drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full lifecycle capital projects from conceptual engineering through commissioning and startup
  • Lead engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities for assigned projects
  • Develop and maintain project scopes, schedules, budgets, and cost estimates
  • Monitor and control project execution, proactively addressing risks, changes, and resource constraints
  • Coordinate with plant operations, corporate stakeholders, and third-party contractors to ensure alignment and execution
  • Ensure all projects meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Capital Program Overview

  • Approximately 40 active projects at any given time
  • Roughly 60 projects executed annually
  • Typical project values ranging from $100K to $2MM
  • Onsite team includes 4 Project Engineers and 1 Engineering Manager
  • Additional support from corporate project management and external EPC resources as needed
