Job summary

The University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Project Manager, Construction to work in Miami, Florida. The Project Manager, Construction oversees and directs the construction management of assigned project(s) and serves as liaison between the institution and outside contractors and designers to ensure timely completion.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction management.
  • Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong teamwork and communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Generates project status reports and ensures plans adhere to contract specifications.
  • Provides construction budgets for analysis and periodic budget updates.
  • Formulates schedules for each phase of construction and inputs into master project schedule.
  • Works with staff engineers to formalize construction documents.
  • Facilitates bidding, receives bids, and prepares bid summary analysis.
  • Prepares contract documentation in forms and amounts acceptable to lenders.
  • Inspects projects and schedules status meetings to ensure progress.
  • Reviews and approves consultant invoices from architects, engineers, and inspectors.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses internal controls and ensures compliance with university policies.

The University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Project Manager, Construction to work in Miami, Florida.

The Project Manager, Construction oversees and directs the construction management of assigned project(s). Further, the Project Manager, Construction serves as liaison between the institution and outside contractors and designers to ensure projects are completed in a timely fashion.
Core Responsibilities:

1. Generates project status reports and works to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications.
2. Provides construction budgets for analysis and provides periodic budget updates.
3. Formulates schedules for each phase of construction and inputs into master project schedule.
4. Works with staff engineers to formalize construction documents.
5. Facilitates the bidding process, receives qualified bids, and prepares a bid summary analysis.
6. Prepares contract documentation in forms and amounts acceptable to lenders.
7. Inspects project(s) periodically to ensure compliance and schedules status meetings.
8. Reviews and approves consultant invoices from architects, engineers, and special inspectors.
9. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required Architecture, Engineering, Construction preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
