Job summary

ARCO is seeking a Design/Build Manager to join our Houston, TX team. You will oversee project performance and profit from day one, driving the design-build process and coordinating with owners and the design team.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Construction/Engineering/Architecture with a 3.0 GPA, 2–5 years of design/build experience, and proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook. ARCO offers a compelling benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • BS in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or related field with minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • 2–5 years' of design/build construction experience; general contractor background preferred.
  • Vertical commercial construction experience and proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project including estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports, and cost reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and complete project estimates.
  • Collaborate with owners and design team on preliminary concept drawings.
  • Lead proposal meetings to review scope and value engineer ideas.
  • Oversee subcontractor buyout and selection.
  • Lead bi-weekly on-site job-site meetings.
  • Plan, organize, and manage multiple activities to meet targets.
  • Commit to quality and meet client expectations.

We are looking for a highly motivated Design/Build Manager, who is passionate about the construction process to join our Houston, TX team. At ARCO, every associate is empowered to drive their success. You’ll be responsible for project performance and profit from day one.

A Day in the Life:
  • Responsible for managerial and administrative aspects of a project. Including, estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports, progress billing, design review and coordination, cost reporting, safety, and proposal preparation
  • Ensure an accurate and complete project estimate
  • Work closely with owners and the design team to develop preliminary concept drawings
  • Participate in the proposal meeting with the owner to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, and provide value engineering ideas
  • Oversee the buyout process and the selection of subcontractors
  • Conduct bi-weekly job site meetings on site
  • Make sound decisions under tight deadlines
  • Organize, plan, and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results
  • Commit to quality by evaluating project-related processes
  • Make necessary changes, use customer input to make improvements, and meet/exceed internal and external client expectation
  • Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and other associates, while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations
Necessary Qualifications:
  • BS in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or related field; with a minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • 2-5 years' of design/build construction experience with a general contractor preferred
  • Vertical commercial construction experience
  • Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Project
