Job summary

ARCO Design/Build is seeking an experienced Electrical/MEP Project Manager to join our Charleston, SC team. You will lead managerial and administrative aspects of GSC projects, including estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports, cost reporting, safety, and proposal preparation.

As a Project Manager, you will own project performance, customer satisfaction, and end-to-end delivery from design to completion, with growth potential and profit responsibility from day one.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or related field; minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • 2–5 years of electrical construction management or engineering design experience.
  • Previous light industrial, manufacturing, or commercial project experience required.
  • Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Projects and/or P6 preferred.
  • Ability to travel nationwide as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Create competitive, accurate, and timely project cost estimates and preliminary schedules for a large pipeline of electrical and renewable energy system construction projects.
  • Investigate specifications, scope of work, drawings, and RFPs to develop complete understanding of requirements and risks.
  • Participate in proposal meetings to review scope, discuss cost-saving ideas, and negotiate contracts & fees.
  • Oversee subcontractor selection and buyout for all trades and vendors.
  • Identify opportunities to procure material or equipment directly when advantageous to budget or schedule.
  • Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work/contracts, project schedule, and site logistics plan with the Project Superintendent.
  • Lead preconstruction planning meetings with designers, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve constructability or manpower issues.
  • Lead weekly/bi-weekly OAC meetings on-site to review progress and address challenges with client.
  • Track project performance vs budget; prepare owner pay applications, cost status, and progress billing reports.
  • Find ways to make the construction process enjoyable for clients, subcontractors, and vendors without compromising quality or safety.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Create competitive, accurate, and timely project cost estimates and preliminary schedules for large pipeline of general electrical and renewable energy system construction projects
  • Thoroughly investigate the specifications, scope of work, drawings, and other RFP documents to develop a complete understanding of the RFP requirements. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the contract documents and the potential risks for a project
  • Participate in the proposal meeting with clients to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, provide value engineering ideas, and negotiate contracts & fees
  • Oversee subcontractor selection and buyout process for all trades and vendors
  • Identify and investigate opportunities to procure material and/or specialty equipment directly when advantageous to project budget or schedule
  • Work with Project Superintendent to develop and review subcontractor scopes of work/contracts, project schedule, and site logistics plan
  • Lead preconstruction planning meetings with all designers, subcontractors and vendors aimed at solving potential constructability, sequencing, and/or manpower issues
  • Lead weekly/bi-weekly OAC meetings on-site once construction begins to review progress and address challenges directly with client

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in Engineering or related field; with a minimum of 3.0 GPA
