Job summary

Scott Humphrey Corporation in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial construction from preconstruction through closeout. You will manage budgets, schedules, quality, and client relationships on ground-up and complex projects.

Ground-up construction experience is strongly preferred, with projects in healthcare, industrial, higher education, K-12, or other complex commercial sectors valued.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and closeout.
  • Maintain responsibility for project budget, schedule, quality, contract compliance, and overall client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and owners throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, procurement, contracts, pay applications, and project documentation.
  • Review project schedules and proactively identify potential delays, risks, and cost impacts.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, including scope coordination, buyout, contract administration, and performance.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with owners, design teams, and internal leadership.
  • Prepare monthly financial forecasts, cost reports, projections, and other project controls.
  • Review plans and specs to identify constructability issues, scope gaps, and potential conflicts.
  • Coordinate with preconstruction teams on estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and project turnover.
  • Manage project closeout, punch list, turnover, and final documentation.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders to drive repeat business and successful project delivery.

A well-established commercial General Contractor in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion, with experience overseeing complex projects, budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships.

Ground-up construction experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with experience on large-scale healthcare, industrial, higher education, K-12, or other complex commercial projects are especially encouraged to apply. Corporate interiors experience is also a plus.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of commercial construction Project Management experience.
  • Experience mandating ground-up commercial construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale projects in healthcare, industrial, higher education, K-12, or other complex commercial sectors highly valued.
  • Corporate interiors / tenant improvement experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, project financials, scheduling, procurement, and change management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple project stakeholders and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
