Project Manager - Banking Operations & Integration

Location: Atlanta, GA

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with onsite attendance in the Atlanta office required (2-3x per week)

Engagement Type: Consulting / Contract

Anticipated Duration: Through at least mid-March 2027 with potential to extend beyond this date

Compensation: $70 to $85 per hour

Vaco is seeking an experienced Enterprise Project Manager to support a large-scale banking integration and transformation program. This role will lead complex projects involving banking operations, business process integration, technology conversions, data migration, and organizational readiness within a structured Enterprise Project Management Office.

The ideal candidate brings deep project leadership experience within banking or financial services and understands how banking operations function beyond the project plan. Experience supporting commercial lending, specialty lending, treasury operations, trade finance, capital markets operations, or other operational banking functions is highly valued.

This position requires regular onsite work in Atlanta. Candidates must currently reside in the Atlanta metropolitan area and be able to work a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex banking integration, conversion, and transformation initiatives.
• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, milestones, budgets, dependencies, RAID logs, and executive status reporting.
• Coordinate activities across banking operations, technology, risk, compliance, finance, data, and third-party vendors.
• Manage system conversion, process integration, data migration, testing, implementation, training, and stabilization activities.
• Partner with business analysts, product owners, operations leaders, and subject matter experts to define requirements and prioritize deliverables.
• Facilitate steering committee meetings, project reviews, stakeholder updates, and executive-level communications.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, resource constraints, and critical decisions.
• Maintain adherence to established EPMO governance, project controls, change management, and reporting standards.
• Support operational readiness and ensure business teams are prepared for implementation and post-conversion activities.
• Drive accountability across cross-functional teams to keep projects aligned with key integration objectives and deadlines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of project management experience, including leadership of large-scale business and technology initiatives.
• Banking or financial services industry experience required.
• Experience working within a formal Enterprise PMO or similarly structured project governance environment.
• Demonstrated success managing banking conversions, integrations, mergers, operational transformations, or major platform implementations.
• Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, issue resolution, change control, and enterprise delivery frameworks.
• Ability to work effectively across business operations, technology, compliance, risk, and executive stakeholder groups.
• Strong executive communication, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and dependencies in a complex, deadline-driven environment.
• Must reside in the Atlanta metropolitan area and be available for regular onsite work in the Atlanta office.

• Commercial banking operations

• Syndicated loans, loan participations, or loan securitizations

• Operational process transformation
• Financial systems or platform implementations

Experience with commercial lending, loan servicing, treasury management, or banking operations platforms such as AFS, nCino, Solifi, FIS Commercial Lending Suite, or comparable banking systems is a plus but not required.
