Job summary

TYLin, a global infrastructure firm, seeks an experienced aviation project manager in the Newark area to lead terminal design and redevelopment programs. You will coordinate programming, schematic design, construction documentation, and administration across multiple disciplines, balancing schedule, budget, and quality.

You will mentor junior staff and collaborate with owners, airlines, tenants, and regulators to ensure safe, efficient passenger experience and compliant facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience managing airport terminal design and redevelopment projects.
• Experience delivering major terminal projects at commercial airports in the United States or internationally.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on complex aviation projects.
• PMP certification may be preferred and license such as RA/PE is a plus.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Lead the design delivery of major airport terminal projects, including new construction, renovations, expansions, and modernization programs.
• Manage multidisciplinary design teams including architects, engineers, planners, interior designers, aviation specialists, and specialty consultants.
• Serve as the primary project interface with airport owners, airlines, tenants, regulatory agencies, and other key stakeholders.
• Coordinate all phases of terminal design, including programming, concept design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Develop and manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing plans, and delivery strategies.
• Facilitate design coordination meetings and ensure alignment between architectural, engineering, operational, and stakeholder requirements.
• Guide teams through complex design challenges related to passenger flow, security, baggage handling, concessions, accessibility, and airport operations.
• Review and manage design deliverables, technical submissions, and quality assurance processes.
• Coordinate with construction teams to support constructability reviews, phasing strategies, and implementation planning.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain design quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
• Prepare executive-level presentations, project reports, and client communications.
• Mentor junior project managers and contribute to the continued growth of TYLin’s Aviation practice.

Qualifications

• Required Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience managing airport terminal design and redevelopment projects.
• Demonstrated experience delivering major terminal projects at commercial airports in the United States or internationally.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on complex aviation projects.
• Strong understanding of airport terminal planning, architectural design, passenger processing, and operational requirements.
• Proven ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience coordinating with airport authorities, airlines, tenants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Preferred Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience delivering projects for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ).
• Experience with major hub airports and large-scale terminal redevelopment programs.
• Experience with alternative delivery methods including Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMAR, or Public-Private Partnerships (P3).
• Experience with airport-specific design standards and regulatory requirements.
• PMP certification.

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of$153,600 - $210,600 annually for this position and local market. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills, experience, education and competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer.
